Thank you for checking out Gear Heads Workshop.
We are a non-profit, community focused bike workshop operated by a Christian charity in Auckland, NZ. The shop has three main focuses:
1. Provide a friendly professional repair service for a wide range of cycles.
2. Provide subsidised repair and refurbishment of cycles for those who cannot afford the full price.
3. Provide education for children and adults focused on common roadside repairs, maintenance, safe riding and overall familiarity with cycling and its terminology etc…
I am a certified bicycle mechanic and have been involved in cycling since working at a local bike shop while attending uni over 20 years ago. For the past few years I have been coordinating a small riding group called “Gear Heads Cycling” and providing repairs and advice for a few members of my community. I have seen the need for more access to cycling for transport and fitness as well as a more personal workshop that can connect with cyclists on a deeper level and not be restrained by the need to be connected to a commercial retailer.
The workshop is starting off small. My goal is to see it grow but being a non-profit, run by a charity I want to keep the costs down and take it step by step.
