Mahu Bike and Skate Park

A bunch of motivated Warkworth locals have come together to design and implement a "wheels-based" park for skaters, scooters, BMXers and mountain-bikers.

A group of motivated, Warkworth locals came together in 2015 with the focus of finding a space to create a bmx/mountain-bike park for the children of the wider Warkworth area community. As part of these initial discussions, it became evident that an improved skate park was also desired by another local group and we decided to work together and form a collective committee that would focus on an int

ATTN PARENTS - to help keep our junior netball players and our scooter/skateboard/mini-bike riders safe, we are closing off the pump track on the end netball court (at WW Showgrounds) whilst the netball competition is in play.

This means from 3pm-7pm on Tuesday's the fenced netball courts are out-of-bounds for any wheeled action - PLEASE help us ensure that happens.

REMINDER TO OUR SKATE AND BIKE COMMUNITY

Whilst a future career in the building industry is quite possible due to their industrious and crafty actions, we need to ask our errant ramp-builder to PLEASE STOP destroying the pump track to make jumps for the skate boxes.

We are SUPER LUCKY to still have the pump track based at the Warkworth Showgrounds but if destructive actions continue, we will likely have it taken from us.

So parents, please remind your kids to make better choices (yes we are blindly assuming it's a kid coz surely adults know better!) and if there is something specifically lacking that they want/need in this space, please message us and we'll try and make it happen.

***Shout out to the local mountain-biking community***

Are you aware the AKDH Auckland Downhill Club has a base in the Dome Valley Forest?

A new committee took over the club this year and they currently have a couple of trails running and are working to get the rest of the trails running after a lot of damage from the storms and lack of maintenance over the last few years.

If you are into riding mountain bikes you don’t need to have a DH bike, a trail/enduro bike is fine, they all ride enduro bikes up there!

Follow them on instagram or Facebook and give the website a browse, to keep up to date with all the things that are happening.

They run shuttle days, do dig nights on a Tuesday evening and do social rides from Kaipara Flats Sports Club on a Thursday - everyone is welcome to join.

Message George Swift or the club if you have any questions
