Another season in the books but there is no rest for the wicked and NZBUA activities will continue in the off season with rules reviews, umpire courses, and the all important NZBUA Umpire Academy in October

Daniel umpired at the recent Summer Showdown in Tauranga in what is his first proper year in baseball. He has come across from a very experienced softball background, which we are doing our best not to hold against him.

Congratulations Daniel on earning your Association Tops. A strong start to your baseball umpiring career and good to have you on board.

Season Underway ⚾️

We are three weeks into the baseball season and it has been a strong start. NZBUA umpires have been out across Auckland and Wellington with good weather and good baseball setting the tone for the year.

Looking forward to the months ahead on the diamond.

Battle of the Bridge ⚾️
and went head to head over the weekend, with youth games on Saturday and Premier matchups on Sunday.

A great pre season hit out for everyone involved and a perfect tune up for NZBUA umpires ahead of the ABA season opener this weekend.

Howick-Pakuranga Baseball would like to extend a huge thank you to Bayside Westhaven Baseball Club for hosting today's pre-season "Battle of the Bridge" games between our two clubs. It was fantastic to see strong competition and great sportsmanship across the 12U, 13U, 14U, 16U, and 19U grades as we gear up for another exciting baseball season together.

We also look forward to tomorrow’s Prems game 12:00pm @ Crossfield reserve for those interested in checking it out. Good luck to both teams!

⚾ NZBUA Umpire School 2025 – Final Day Recap ⚾

Day 3 wrapped up an incredible weekend of learning and development for our umpires.

Hosted by North Shore Baseball Club at the fantastic Unsworth Park, the morning focused on live simulation drills building on the work from Day 2.

In the afternoon, our umpires took the field to officiate a scrimmage between North Shore City Baseball and Central City Baseball, putting their training into action in a real-game environment.

A big thank you to North Shore City Baseball and Central City Baseball for supporting the final day, and to all our umpires who made Umpire School 2025 a success.

⚾ NZBUA Umpire School 2025 ⚾

Our annual Umpire School is underway in Auckland this weekend, bringing together umpires from across the country for three days of learning, practice and development.

Friday night kicked off with sessions on the Advanced 2-Umpire System, Umpire–Manager interactions and situation handling.

Saturday moved to Crossfield Reserve for on-field mechanics, rotations and plate umpire positioning, with plenty of work on the strike zone.

A huge thank you to everyone taking part and helping grow the standard of umpiring in New Zealand.

In under 2 hours you’ll learn the basics with confidence and be ready to step on the field this summer to help out with youth baseball in your community.

The International Youth Development Series brought some fantastic baseball to Auckland and Hamilton last week, with New Zealand’s U15 squad, the Auckland Invitational team, and Baseball Queensland’s Wahoos and Mudcrabs all taking the field.

NZBUA was proud to support the event with our umpires, who were right there in the middle of the action from the first pitch to the last. A big thank you to our members for representing with professionalism and passion throughout the series.
