Saturdays seriously don’t get much better than this - ‘Nourish & Restore’ Yoga Retreat with my beautiful Mamma Sue Holtshousen and an awesome group of ladies ... somatic movement, meditation, whole foods, yoga, cacao ceremony and sound bathing. All in this incredible light-soaked west coast location only an hour outside of Auckland!
Thanks Michelle Keenan Yoga and Wellness for a truly wonderful day 🙏🔥❤️

Yes, yes, YES! 1000 times yes and a huge shoutout to - how beautiful is this? Your yoga does not have to look a certain way, YOU do not have to look a certain way, your BODY does not have to look a certain way, your CLOTHES do not have to look a certain way, the SPACE YOU PRACTICE IN does not have to look a certain way - I could go on, but I'm feeling like you get the picture by now - for it to be YOGA.
YOUR PRACTICE IS YOURS, AND IT'S FOR YOU, NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE!
Screw the haters and the gatekeepers who think that they get to judge what is and isn't right. And screw your own inner mean girl if she's trying to tell you that something about your practice isn't good enough. Kindly tell both external and internal critics that you won't be giving them any more airtime, and then you do you. Practice in whatever way works for you.
Props, no props, yoga tights or pyjamas (my personal favourite yoga outfit, as I might have mentioned a time or two before 😂), or, to hell with it, do it NAKED if you want! Do it for 5 minutes, or for an hour. Do it at sunrise, or at 2.17pm. With music or without. Do poses with fancy names if they float your boat, or roll around on the floor and breathe (another specialty of mine 😜), or spend 10 minutes in child pose. Chant. Meditate. Dance. Be still. It's up to you.
Let go of the doubts and the fears. Just get on your mat (or not, if you don't want to use one) and practice. Not for anyone else.
For you.

- STUDIO IS CLOSED -
All classes at the studio are suspended until further notice. We will be reaching out to those who are currently registered for classes in the next 24 hours to discuss options for a refund/studio credit etc.
In the meanwhile I wanted to share this beautiful quote by Zubin Atre as we prepare to go into mandatory lockdown here in New Zealand. I hope that in this time of unprecedented change and uncertainty that you can turn to your Yoga practice to manage stress or anxiety, or to alleviate boredom and keep moving while you are at home.
Or to just take moments throughout your day to ‘tune in’ to your breath as a meditation tool.
I will try to post resources daily for online classes and YouTube videos etc. that may be helpful if you are interested in continuing your yoga practice while you are at home.
Stay Healthy and Safe!
