Match Report May 9th 2015 vs Long Bay 3rd XI:
It turned out to be a cracker of a day for football and the beginning of the Ravens 2015 Season. Long Bay opted to kick off and began the game well with some good passing. The Ravens continued their aggressive attacking style of football with Reid Hastie and Bjorn Wojt breaking away but not being able to finish. After a couple of foiled attacks by Long Bay Hastie broke away and crossed into the box with Cole Briggs unable to finish. Shortly after Bronson Marshall opened his 2015 account with a tap in assisted by Hastie. This goal gave the Ravens confidence, not long after Marshall banged in a belter of a goal from the left wing. With the Ravens comfortably ahead 2-0 they began to pass the ball with ease Stefan Silva controlled the midfield and Long Bay were unable to pe*****te the defence. Long Bay were unable to get past left back Priyal Yapa despite nifty passing on their behalf. 20 minutes in Hastie netted his first goal of the season with some handy skills inside the box to put one in the back of the goal. Long Bay's perseverance payed off with them scoring to make the game 3-1 at the end of the first half.
The second half began well for the Ravens with Hastie scoring another 2 goals to complete his first of many hat-tricks for the season. The solid defence of D**g Hyun Shim and Logan Geary was to good for Long Bay to get past. Some handy keeping from debutant keeper Trent Gawith keep Long Bay scoreless for the second half. With the game all but over for Long Bay the talented Silva surprised everyone by netting not one but two long range goals. The Long Bay keeper was utterly disappointed to say the least. After many attacks by the Ravens Hastie sealed the game by netting his 4th goal of the game.
Overall a comfortable win 8-1 for the ravens who are back to their winning ways and retain the Colin Marshall Memorial Shield for another year. The boys look forward to next weeks match up and north shore derby vs Kristin. Special thanks to the large amount supporters for turning up and supporting the boys, we look forward to seeing you all next week.
