I have some lovely news to share: I'm now a finalist in three categories for the 2026 Exercise New Zealand Awards!

I've just been confirmed as a finalist in two judged categories:

🏆 Group Trainer of the Year
🏆 Group Exercise Instructor - Pre-Choreographed

That's alongside my 🏆 People's Choice finalist place. This week, I have a Live interview as the next stage of judging for Group Trainer of the Year. Exciting - and a little nerve-racking!

To have both my personal training and group exercise work recognised means so much to me. When my father-in-law saw the news, he said, "Cream always come to the top." It made me smile.

I'm grateful for the support of clients and class participants who trust me to help them grow fitter, stronger and more confident. You're why I love this work.

Helping clients become more confident in the gym is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

That confidence is built through consistent training and appropriate progression - not by being rushed into lifting heavier before they are ready.

I teach clients what readiness looks and feels like, so they understand when and why the load increases. My role is to remove the guesswork - progressing when appropriate, adapting when necessary, and keeping their training both challenging and realistic.

Feedback like this means a great deal. Thank you. 💙

I love that Dr Stacy Sims is promoting the importance of strength training for women.

As an experienced Personal Trainer and Registered Exercise Professional, I also know that simply telling someone to "lift heavy" isn't the right place to start if they aren't experienced.

Effective strength training is individual. It means learning good technique and movement patterns, working across appropriate rep ranges and progressively increasing the challenge from your own starting point. This applies to men and women alike.

Working with a knowledgeable professional can help you build strength safely and confidently - and it may be one of the best investments you make in your future health.

Think about the holidays, adventures, picking up grandkids and everyday activities you want to continue enjoying well into your 80s. If you're already beginning to struggle in your 50s or 60s, now is the time to make a change.

Some exciting news today! 🎉I've made it through to the next stage of the ExerciseNZ Awards for both my Group Trainer and Pre-Choreographed entries!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported and encouraged me throughout this journey over the past few months. Particularly my husband, who has been behind me every step of the way.

I'm absolutely thrilled to be progressing in both categories! 😊

As part of one of my Group Training classes this week I talked about how I’d used AI to create this pictogram, how it saved me hours of work, how I just explained what education I wanted the pictogram to provide. I often think PTs aren’t respected, but the ones who have gone through the right qualifications framework, and are Registered Exercise Professionals know how to assess their clients. With years of experience as well, it’s pretty easy to know what Components of Physical Fitness are missing in people. Have you ever given this any thought?

Your exercising. You’re trying. But nothing seems to be changing.

When it comes to Metabolic Health, sometimes more effort isn’t the answer, it’s knowing what to change.

That’s where working with an experienced Registered Exercise Professional can make all the difference.

Expert guidance can turn effort into real results and take out all the guesswork.

If you’ve been stretching, walking, attending group exercise classes or doing You Tube workouts for ages and you’re not getting the results you’d expect, the missing link isn’t effort. You’re doing a great job. The missing piece is what I call “Structure” - matching effort with goals. Then within that is the system inside and the coaching to support it. That’s how real change happens for the long-term. To keep living the life you want to.
