Not bad for only his second time ever on a horse!

Martin Hannon joined Jonny Wade for a polo lesson and by the end of it he was trotting around and hitting the ball like a pro.

A big thank you to Indi Bennetto and the team at Auckland Polo Academy for providing the absolute best learner horses, they make learning polo such an incredible experience.

This is what we love about polo…
You don’t have to grow up doing it to give it a go. With the right horses, great coaching, and a fun group around you, anyone can jump in and surprise themselves.

If you’ve ever thought about trying polo, come along next season and be part of it.
It’s social, exciting, and seriously good fun and you never know, you might be the next one hitting balls down the field after your second ride!

Fantastic ladies polo this weekend 🐎☀️🥂

Our playing ponies have now been turned out for winter and what a view they have!! They have given us everything on the field, won a few champion pony prizes and deserve a well-earned break. That also means it’s time for the young ones to have their turn, learning the ropes and seeing how it’s all done.

The season may be winding down, but there are still a few tournaments to come before it all wraps up. This weekend The Walker Memorial at Bombay Hills Polo Club is on, always one of the most fun tournaments of the year with some of the best prizes up for grabs.

Unfortunately The Polo Collective won’t have a team playing this weekend, but we’ll certainly be there enjoying the day, supporting the polo community and watching some great polo.

What an incredible week at the Saville Cup, the polo was outstanding, the atmosphere was buzzing and what a final!!

Teams came from all over the country and what a friendly and fantastic bunch. The spirit and camaraderie on and off the field truly make this event what it is.

And to everyone who travelled far and wide, we hope you all made it home safely. A very special congratulations to Margot for an amazing 30 years of timekeeping.

Again a huge thank you to everyone behind the scenes, the volunteers, organisers, grounds teams, scorers, goal judges and all who keep things running so smoothly. Your hard work makes these weekends possible, and we appreciate every bit of it.

A huge thank you to the amazing team at Hololio Polo Club for hosting the fantastic Hololio Masters tournament last week. We are so lucky to play on such incredible fields, surfaces like that make great polo possible.

The beautiful marquee setup was absolutely stunning and created the perfect atmosphere for players, supporters, and spectators alike.

The Polo Collective weren’t winners this time, but we’re so grateful to be involved and to take part in such a special event.

Thank you for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make days like this happen. We truly appreciate it! 🏇✨

Meet Amy Shotton 🤩

Originally from the United Kingdom, Amy moved to New Zealand 11 years ago and has been riding practically since she could walk! She began her equestrian journey in eventing before discovering polo about four years ago.

Amy was first introduced to the sport through grooming, a path that took her across Australia and throughout Europe, gaining incredible experience along the way.

Off the field, Amy is a nutrient specialist, looking after soil nutrition on over 300 farms for Ballance Agri-Nutrients. She is incredibly motivated and someone who gets the job done, whatever she turns her hand to.

Amy is now loving being out on the field and playing the sport herself. We’re thrilled to have her as part of our family and the Polo Collective team this season! 🐎💙

Who’s in for next season 🙌🐎🥂

The Polo Collective are through to the finals!

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve made it into the finals of the 6 Goal Milford NZ Polo Open tomorrow at 11.30am on Fisher Field.

It’s going to be a huge challenge and an even bigger honour as we line up against two of New Zealand’s polo legends, Cody Forsyth and Alan Browne.

Our team has worked incredibly hard to get here, and we’d love your support on the sidelines. Bring your cheers, your energy, and come enjoy an epic day of top-class polo!

🎉 Semifinals Bound! 🎉

The Polo Collective team has made it through to the semifinals of the Milford NZ 6 Goal Polo Open!!

We’ve got a very tough match ahead against a strong team from the fantastic Bombay Hills Polo Club, it’s sure to be a fast, competitive and exciting game.

We’re looking forward to getting out there and giving it everything. See you on the field!

We were thrilled to have Fern Mclldowie join the Polo Collective team at Kihikihi last weekend.

Fern comes from a sheep and beef station inland from Gisborne and plays out of the Poverty Bay Polo Club, following in the footsteps of her dad, uncles and grandad. Horses have always been a huge part of her life, and when she’s not working on the farm she’s busy breeding and producing her own young horses.

Polo has taken her all over the world, the UK, Ireland, the USA and Australia and since 2020 she’s proudly represented New Zealand.

Having Fern in the team was a real privilege. She brought talent, calm determination and exceptional horsemanship.

Thank you, Fern we loved having you in Collective colours and hope to see you back with us again soon!
