Introducing Coach Laura!
Laura has been a long time member of Unbound, so we are super excited to have her jumping into a leadership role and joining our coaching crew!
āIāve always enjoyed playing sports. I grew up playing soccer competitively but after a really bad knee injury in my teenage years, I really struggled both physically and mentally to get back into it due to pain and gave it up at 17. I then spent my late teenage years and early 20ās partying too much and neglecting my physical and mental health.
My partner introduced me to CrossFit after the first lockdown because my local gym stopped doing spin classes (the only form of fitness I was really into because it was low impact for my knee).
I was pretty adamant that I wasnāt going to go because in my mind, CrossFit was a cult where everybody did funny looking pull ups and only talked about how they did CrossFit. I was also worried about doing heavy lifting with my knee.
I went to a free trial but I wasnāt immediately convinced- I think I was overwhelmed by all the movements and intimidated by the heavy weights. But I stuck with it because I knew one of the best things I could do for myself mentally was exercise.
So I persisted, and pushed myself and eventually got hooked. The physical strength Iāve gained has grown my confidence and helped me chip away at lingering self doubts, itās also helped dramatically with my knee pain!
Iām a registered nurse and work full time in oncology. Looking after people with cancer is an absolute privilege and I love my job, however it can be tough mentally. If Iāve had an especially stressful or sad day at work, I know that I can find some relief in the gym in a workout or just being around all the awesome members.
The community at Unbound is amazing!
We come from different walks of life but all like a good workout and a laugh. I wanted to start coaching because I know how much of a positive impact exercise has had on my life and I want to help others find that same benefit. I also LOVE helping women find their strength with a heavy barbell and see their confidence grow as they get strongerā
Welcome to the team Laura!

Introducing Coach Andy!
Andy is new to the team so come along and make him feel welcome!
A bit about Andy:
āIāve played team sports my whole life, and I still play and coach rugby union. Ā
Because all of my mates were doing it, I went for my first free trial class 4 years ago at the local CrossFit box, and now 4 years on, Iām still loving it! My favourite movements are lying down and talking.
I enjoy coaching because I love watching people work hard to achieve new things. I also enjoy the interaction with members and other coaches and the community connection you get from a CrossFit gym.Ā
I have a 2 year old son who well and truly keeps me on my toes. Heās mischief in every sense of the word but has mastered the innocent smile and timely cuddle to get away with almost anything!
My hobbies include coffee, talking, anything sports related, and talking.Ā
I love the vibe that Unbound has and canāt wait to add my own ingredients.Ā ā
Welcome to the team Andy!
