⚽️ MATCH REPORT ⚽️
Saturday 25/04 ~ 3pm kick off
North Shore United AFC Torpedos vs. Otahuhu United AFC Mens Reserves Team
The Rezzies made their way to Ashley Reserve with hopes to get a better result than the previous weeks. Due to having a few players unavailable and substitutes limited, it was always going to be a tough game with a squad lacking a bit of match fitness.
Otahuhu couldn’t have started the game much worse conceding a quick counter attack after some promising build up play but quickly gained composure which led to an even match up with both keepers regularly tested within the first half, although North shore having more of the better opportunities. The Otahuhu GK making some great saves to keep us in the game.
With the game in the balance, a misplaced pass from Otahuhu caused another quick counter attack that resulted in another goal for North Shore making the scoreline 2-0.
Otahuhu were on the end of a couple of hard tackles causing a knock to one of the players and ruling out another for the rest of the game, completely depleting our substitutes, and that showed as North Shore snuck a third goal past the keeper right on the stroke of halftime.
The second half turned out to be more of a one-sided affair, with the experience and team chemistry of North Shore, along with their luxury of substitutes clearly showing as they scored 5 unanswered goals, albeit 3 of them being unfortunate own goals by Otahuhu.
Although the result was once again not in Otahuhu’s favour, there was some positives to take from the match. It was good for the players to gain some match fitness, as some haven’t played in a number of years, and the experience and chemistry playing as a team is always invaluable. The team showed some great plays in the first half of the game, and if we are able to keep up that intensity for the full 90 minutes, we should be able to compete with anyone in the league.
Signing out,
Oscar

⚽️ Meet the team behind the scenes ⚽️
With our juniors and youth teams about to kick off the 2026 winter football season, it’s only right we reintroduce the people who keep everything moving behind the scenes. All parents themselves, and all proudly volunteering their time for our club.
You’ll see our Vice President, Matt, who also serves as Club Chairman, around the club or out on the field coaching one of our junior teams — including our 2025 Junior Team of the Year.
Our new Treasurer, Suli, is a familiar face across the club. She’s actively involved in our community boxing and walking football programmes with , and has been part of our Raiders youth team for a few years.
Andrea is one of our dedicated club parents who supports the governance side of things, and is often around with her tamariki, willing to lend a hand where needed.
And then there’s our West family — a constant presence at the club and a big part of the day-to-day heartbeat of Ōtāhuhu United. There’s plenty more to say, but if you’re around the club, you’ll see exactly what we mean.
If you see any of them, don’t hesitate to say kia ora — they’re always happy to help.
Thank you team, we appreciate everything you do.
LET’S GO O.U !

Sunday 19/04 ~ 11am
Ōtāhuhu United AFC Goal Diggers Vs Waiuku AFC Wolverines
After a blanket cancelation last week we kicked off our first game of the 2026 season at our home ground playing against Waiuku. Solid start to the morning everyone's all warmed up and ready to play football.
We had a steady start everyone's feeling pretty good in their positions and holding their own. Our passes were consistently finding our feet and creating strategic chances. Half time found us at 0-0.
2nd half we started with some extra fire, our Candace with her famous left foot from a through ball and shot past the keeper into the net. Making it 1-0 to Otahuhu.
Then captain Sheanna manuerved the ball from the middle up the right wing then into the box and chipped it in past the goalie right into the net too. Now we're at 2-0
Waiuku were playing their hearts out too and making us really work hard in the 2nd half. Our back line doing their job keeping the pressure on waiuku when they were in our half. Keeper caitlin found herself in a 1 v 1 with waiuku and they managed to get one in.
Ending the game with a win to us 2-1 and our left back Omi played with alot of fire earning herself as the player of the day today.
Walking away from today's match satisfied with the results and with ourselves. Looking forward to backing these ladies this season. We got this girls! 💪
