Our U12 Gold team have played their hearts out this weekend and made us all so proud. While they didn't quite manage a medal we are so proud of them earning a place in A Grade and then fighting their way to a gripping final match for 3rd & 4th that ended going to a penalty shoot out.
Atlantis City Water Polo and Aquatics Club got the first goal and were two up then Waitak responded and it was 4-2 to Atlantis after the first half. The intensity rose in the second half where each team was hungry for goals but defence was strong. Atlantis got two close shaves past Goalie Paige while Beau and Kaleb were able to get 4 more put away to even the score to 6-6 at full time taking them to the penalty shoot out. The crowd loved it and the atmosphere was intense! Final score was 10-9 to Atlantis. Well done to both teams for putting on a fantastic show of Water Polo! 🟡🔵

It may have been a rainy day today but it was a good day for Water Polo. Two wins today for the U16 girls!
Waitakere 5-2 to Sea wolf Orange
Waitakere 6-3 to Waikato
The first game against Sea Wolf orange 🍊 started off strong despite it being 8am and Greer got a goal mid first quarter. They responded and it ended 1-1 at the end of first quarter. Sea Wolf started the second quarter strong and scored within the first minute. Sylvie played a great defensive game and Greer used an opportunity when they were down a player to get us to 2-2.
Liya kept the pressure up in the second half and did some great saves against a strong opposition. Greer scored off a 5m, and then in the final quarter McKenzie scored to make it 4-2. With 2 minutes to spare Emerson secured it with a 5-2 finish.
In the 2nd game we were expecting a tough competition with Waikato and they delivered. Within the first 30 seconds Liya made a fantastic save!
Despite multiple tries from many of our players the first quarter ended 0-1 to Waikato.
Greer managed to secure one in quarter 2, ending 1-1. A goal from Archer and another 2 from Greer in quarter 3 along with an unlikely miss from Waikato ended the quarter at 4-1 to Waitakere.
Waikato never gave up and in quarter 4 did the most amazing shot from half way down the pool pulling it up to 4-2 to Waitakere. Greer made it more comfortable for us with a goal off a 5m to make it 5-2. Zoe did a great steal and Willow secured a goal making it 6-2.
Waikato never gave up though and secured a fantastic goal from the side, finishing the game at 6-3.

A great day of water polo today for our U16 girls with games that were high energy and more evenly matched compared to yesterday’s.
First game was against Atlantis Aqua and was a high pressure game from start to finish. At half time it was 3-2 to us, with the gap tightened to 3-3 at the end of the 3rd quarter. We then broke away and then Zoe did a great assist to Greer for the game to end on 5-3 to us!
Spirits were high off the win in the morning to then play North Harbour Maroon in the afternoon. Archer had us on the board inside the first minute, and Greer was on fire all game with multiple goals. It was 2-1 to us at end of the 1st quarter.
The second quarter was tit for tat with Greer scoring putting us 3-1, which they then retaliated to make it 3-2. Greer put the pressure again with 4-2, with some great saves from Liya in between. Before half time they got one in leaving it at 4-3 to us. The second half was again fantastic to watch with evenly matched teams. North Harbour were awarded a penalty shot which they originally missed, but managed to then get in on second try. It was level 5 all at the end of the 3rd with both teams fired up at the beginning of the 4th. Both teams scored to get it to 6-6 and in the last minute North Harbour took the win with 6-7. An absolute battle and nothing to hang heads about.
So proud of the whole team. Bring on tomorrow! 🙌
Atlantis Aqua 5-3 to us
North Harbour 6-7 to them

Game 2: 15-1 against a formidable Harbour City Hawks
Game 3: 14-2 against Atlantis Tridents to them. It was 10-2 at the end of the first half so the second half of the game our Waitakere girls fought back hard!

It’s their first game as a team today!
Our U16 girls are playing in the Sea Wolf Kings Birthday tournament this weekend.
Their first game this morning was against Sea Wolf Pink with the result 1-9 to them.
Waitakere player Greer opened the game to score. The final score doesn’t really reflect the great defence by our girls, they kept the pressure on for the whole game.
Next game is at 1pm against Harbour City Hawks
