John Young Dance

It is with great sadness that we advise all of our wonderful past students and friends that John Young passed away peacefully at the home he loved on 14 March 2022 with his wife Anne by his side.

A private service to celebrate John's life was held on 23rd March 2022. For those who wish to pay their respects, John was laid to rest at the beautiful grounds of Auckland Memorial Park Stillwater.

John has danced his last tango and has gone to the great ballroom in the sky.

Thank you everybody so much for the fabulous farewell. We really appreciated it. The kind thoughts and gifts were wonderful and unexpected. Thank you to Wendy for the fabulous poem – it’s going to be framed and will keep the memories alive for us of all who attended, both past and present members. We miss you all and please, please, never stop dancing. John and Anne

No classes this weekend. John and Anne are off to Napier for the Art Deco weekend.

Another great year of dancing starts this Sunday (17th January) with beginners social style dance classes at 2.30 pm and intermediate at 1 pm, both in studio 4 at TAPAC with Anne. Advanced Argentine Tango with John starts at 12 pm in studio 3. We look forward to seeing you.

John is still teaching Argentine Tango. You won't find it on the website, but he has classes for tango dancers on Sundays at midday at TAPAC. Not suitable for beginners.

We are starting new sections for both levels of the social style dance course. 1 pm is for intermendiate/advanced dancers and 2.30 pm for beginners. If you've done the section and level we are teaching before, you can repeat it for a 10% discount!!

Next Sunday we have new sections starting for both beginners social style dancing (2.30 pm) and level 2 social dancing (at 1 pm). Why don't you join us!

We're moving to our winter schedule this Sunday. There are new sections starting for both levels of Argentine Tango. Intermediate/advanced has moved to 12 noon and a brand new beginners starts at 1 pm.

This Sunday (16 March) at 1 pm we will be starting a new format intermediate/advanced social course. If you've done our beginners course, you can do this. The course will be structured, with the same format as the beginners course. Steps taught will include bronze level steps as well as other fun variations. Social Dancing 2 Social Dancing 2 - This course extends the beginners social dance course and will improve your dancing to a higher and more confident level.

2014 private lessons start up tomorrow. We are now fully booked to the end of February, so if you want a lesson you will need to put your name on a waiting list for a cancellation.

Silver to Gold levels - 7.30 pm Wednesday 15 January
Gold - Oscar levels - 6 pm Thursday 16 January
Argentine Tango Intermediate & Advanced - 11 am Sunday January 19
