TIP #11 - STOP MORE THAN YOU WALK ⏸️🦌
One of the biggest mistakes hunters make is constantly moving.
Try stopping for 2-5 minutes regularly and just watch and listen. Once the forest settles, you’ll often notice movement you would’ve walked straight past.
Woodhill rewards patience.

TIP #10 - FRESH SIGN TELLS THE STORY 🌿
Fresh tracks, droppings, rubs and browse are all clues worth slowing down for.
If sign is old and dry, keep moving.
Learning to read fresh sign can completely change your hunt.

TIP #9 - RESPECT THE FOREST 🌿
Take your rubbish out, follow permit rules, respect other hunters, and help protect the future of hunting at Woodhill.
We all play a part in keeping this tradition alive for future generations 🦌

TIP # 8 - DON’T SKYLINE YOURSELF 🌲
When crossing ridges, dune edges or open areas, stay low and use cover where possible.
A silhouetted hunter stands out instantly to wildlife - even at distance.

TIP #4 - HUNT THE WIND 💨
If the wind is blowing your scent into where deer are bedding or feeding, you’re already beaten.
Constantly check wind direction and adjust your approach accordingly.
At Woodhill, wind matters more than distance walked.

TIP #3 - CUTOVERS ARE HUNTABLE 🌱
Cutovers aren’t just empty spaces.
Focus on:
🦌 edges
🦌 fresh regrowth
🦌 skid sites
🦌 shaded pockets
🦌 game trails entering and exiting
Slow down and glass properly - deer are often closer than you think 👀
