A BIG THANK YOU TO SPORT OTAGO

KT Kombat Balclutha would like to sincerely thank Sport Otago and Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa for supporting our youth programme through their funding.

This funding has had a direct impact on our young Kyokushin Karate members, helping us purchase essential protective equipment, including youth head gear.

For a growing community dojo, quality protective equipment is a significant cost. This support means we can provide the equipment our young people need to participate safely in contact training and kumite, without passing the full cost on to families.

More importantly, it helps us keep participation affordable and accessible, particularly for tamariki and rangatahi who may otherwise face financial barriers to organised sport.

Our goal at KTK is about more than learning to fight. We want our young members to become stronger, fitter and more confident, while developing discipline, respect, resilience, goal setting and positive connections within their community.

The support from Tū Manawa is helping us create a safe and inclusive environment where more young people can get active, learn Kyokushin Karate and discover what they are capable of.

Thank you Sport Otago for investing in our tamariki and supporting grassroots sport in Balclutha.

With our classes near capacity, we are looking at running two separate classes.

We are seeking interest to see if it would work. We believe an earlier start would also benefit the younger ones and give them a more age appropriate training schedule.

MORE THAN JUST A MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL

We hear you.

“I don’t really like gyms.”

“I want group fitness, not training by myself.”

“I’d love to exercise, but I need something I can do around my kids or with them.”

“I want to get fitter, stronger and more confident, but I don’t know where to start.”

KT Kombat Balclutha could be your answer.

Sempai Scott is not only your Kyokushin Karate instructor — he is also a qualified Personal Trainer, with more than 30 years of fitness experience.

Martial arts and combative sports are one of the best forms of group fitness. You get your heart rate up, build strength and fitness, learn practical skills, challenge yourself and train as part of a whānau.

And what better way to do it than alongside your tamariki or mokopuna?

Get active. Get involved. Lead by example.

We’ve already had plenty of parents bring their children along to training and then ask:

“Can I join in and train too?”

The answer is YES.

We are looking at adding more classes next term, so if you’ve been thinking about getting started, now is the perfect time.

Register your interest or get in touch with Sempai Scott today and come along for a FREE TRIAL.

OSU Feedback please

We’re looking at making a small change to our KT Kombat Dojo classes for Term 4.

We’re considering offering an earlier 45-minute training session for Ages 5–7

Training time options
4.00pm - 4.45pm or 4:30pm – 5:15pm
Monday and Wednesday

The aim is to make training a little more suitable for our younger students, while giving them a fun, energetic introduction to Kyokushin Karate in an age-appropriate environment.

Before we lock anything in, we’d really appreciate feedback from parents and caregivers.

Would the earlier timeframe work better for your child? Mindful of the young ones being tired and focus slipping away later in the evening.

Would it fit better with those whom may not have committed due to time?

Please comment or send us a message with your thoughts.

Your feedback will help us shape the Term 4 timetable.
