✳️ One year today…

We packed up our life in Beachlands and headed south to create a new life with adventure right on our doorstep.

What a year it’s been! 😳

➡️ Moved to Hanmer Springs
➡️ Bought a section
➡️ Built a house 🏡
➡️ Broke my pelvis in multiple places 💔
➡️ Said goodbye to my Mum ❤️
➡️ Spent months recovering and learning to ride my bike again

Definitely NOT the year we had planned

Here’s to the next chapter, more adventures, and making the most of every opportunity.

Got to hang out with the Selwyn District iBike team this afternoon.
Nice to be in a school again for Bike Ready. Todays mission was all about observing and giving feedback on their current grade one program. Great team!

Hubby says I need green, I function better and are happier.

Got a good dose of it with Rob from New Zealand Single Track Adventures on a guided ride along Wharfedale Track near Oxford.

What a place to ride, bit of an adventure getting there with two fords along a narrow gravel road.

A toilet with a floor that I felt like I was going to fall through the floor

Then gorgeous single track, very narrow in places with roots and rocky sections. Bit of walking involved but oh so good.

We didn’t ride the whole thing but got a good dose and keen to return some stage.

The only problem with holidays is that they have to end! 🚴‍♀️

After our Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail adventure, we spent a night in Tekapo before heading back to reality.

Returning to our new home in Hanmer Springs, a place we’ve grown very fond of.

Popped into Bike Apprentice in Geraldine on the way home. Rocky has an awesome shop and a keen helper of bikepackers coming through the town.

Comfort is key when you’re riding the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail or other multi day cycle trips.

Georgie from That's It. sent me a care package back in January, and I finally got to test their anti-chafing gel and cream on this trip

Easy to apply, smells nice, and the tubes fit perfectly in my top tube bag. They worked a treat — I’m sold! 🙌

So how far is the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail?

We selected the Express Self guided package from Cycle Journeys and had one accommodation location slightly off the trail.

Total Distance ➡️ 331km

Total Elevation ➡️ 2757m

According to my Garmin…

I can’t thank Cycle Journeys enough for selecting me to be this years Cycle for Hope recipient. We had a blast and I achieved my goal of riding the full distance on my bike (muscle powered) and no walking. Thank you Cycle Journeys for helping me achieve my goal. Not a bad effort since 9 months I couldn’t walk!!
