That is a wrap for 2026 Senior Provincials.

All teams wanted to play their best as it was the last time that Provincials are to be played at Action Hornby.

After a long 16 years the Men's team got to play in the Grand Final vs a very strong Central Districts team, unfortunately couldn't finish it off.

The Women's team had a difficult campaign going into this tournament but were able to make the plate Final but were unable to get the win.

U22's Mens had a young team going into the campaign but made the Plate Final and won against the Auckland.

U22 Girls had a couple of injuries in tournament so had to call on extra players over the 3 days, The Girls dug deep and had a heart breaking lost in the Semi-final by 1 run.

Congratulations to all players, coaches and managers for all the hours behind the scenes to get tournament ready.

Bring on 2027

The Canterbury 22 Boys had a positive tournament in a rebuilding year with 5 changes to last year, as well as a new assistant coach and manager.

The team started to form a great culture and by the end of the tournament were playing some excellent cricket, winning a thrilling plate final against a strong Auckland side. A couple of heart breaking losses early in the tournament cost them a shot at the title but it’s all learning and on to next year.

We thank Jack Haines in particular for 4 amazing years in the 22s set up including leading the side and driving that improved culture this year. Ben McGarvey and Clayton Crowley are the other two we sadly say farewell to as they age out after strong tournaments.

The 22s family welcome Max Haines, Archie Nielsen, Marshall Johnston and Quinn Helms as young debutants this year, all of whom added to the team and the promising future ahead.

Proud of this team and how they represented Canterbury.
