Cornered Tigers - Important Announcement
To all our supporters, friends, and cricket family:
After much thought and many difficult discussions, we regret to announce that Cornered Tigers will not be taking part in the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
This has been an incredibly hard decision, but unavoidable.
Player availability has been a major challenge week after week, with several key members facing personal commitments, health situations, and relocations. With only a handful of players consistently available and no capacity to rebuild the squad mid-season, it became clear that continuing would place unnecessary pressure on the boys and compromise the spirit we have always played with.
Cornered Tigers has always been built on passion, effort, and togetherness; never just numbers on a team sheet. And we want to end the journey with those values intact.
To everyone who has supported us over the years... thank you!
You stood with us through wins, losses, streaks, milestones, and unforgettable moments. Your messages, your cheers, and your belief made this team special.
To all the opponents and clubs we have played against over the years, thank you as well.
Your sportsmanship, competitiveness, and respect contributed to many memorable battles and helped shape CT into the team it became. We are grateful for the camaraderie and the spirit of cricket shared across every match.
This may be the end of CT for now, or perhaps just a pause; time will tell. But the memories, friendships, and brotherhood will always remain.
From all of us at Cornered Tigers Cricket Club -
thank you for being part of our story.

Cornered Tigers Innings
The Tigers’ innings never quite found stability after a promising start by Abdul Wahad, who played a brilliant lone hand of 61 off 71 balls - showcasing patience, timing, and some well-placed boundaries against disciplined bowling.
However, wickets fell regularly at the other end, with Laddi Malhi (3/26) and Sukhbir Bal (2/11) exploiting movement and uneven bounce to dismantle the middle order.
Apart from Wahad, no other batter could cross double figures as CT were bowled out for 114 in 26.1 overs, with extras (27) providing the second-highest contribution.
Top Scorer: Abdul Wahad - 61 (71)
Hornby Hawks Innings
Defending a modest total, CT came out with intent and nearly pulled off a memorable comeback. The bowlers showed heart and accuracy, reducing Hawks to 84/7 at one stage.
Captain Habib Ullah Marwat led the fightback with a superb spell of 3/15 in 5 overs, claiming key wickets in the middle order. Yasir Amin (2/37) and Umair Maqbool (1/25) kept the pressure on, while Hasib chipped in early with a wicket.
Despite the spirited effort, the lower order partnership between Karamjeet (26*) and Gagandeep (16*) steadied the chase and guided Hornby Hawks to victory in 22 overs.
Top Bowler: Habib Ullah Marwat - 3/15 (5 overs)
Turning Point: The 7th-wicket stand between Karamjeet and Gagandeep
Summary
The loss marked the end of a remarkable chapter for the Tigers; their first defeat at Elmwood Park since January 2021, breaking a 14-match unbeaten streak at the venue.
It was a tough day with the bat, but the fighting display in the field showed the same spirit that has long defined Cornered Tigers. With Wahad’s standout knock and Habib’s captain’s spell, the team will look to regroup and bounce back stronger next week.

Cornered Tigers Innings
Cornered Tigers got off to a shaky start after opting to bat, losing three quick wickets with just 19 on the board. However, Yasir Amin and Davinder Gill turned the innings around with a crucial partnership that steadied the ship and brought CT back into the contest.
Yasir produced one of the finest all-round performances in recent CT history, scoring his maiden half-century (57 off 51 balls); a composed yet attacking knock that featured 4 fours and 2 sixes. His timing and placement stood out as he absorbed pressure early before accelerating beautifully.
Gill provided powerful support with a quickfire 45 off 32, including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, guiding CT past 170 before falling in the final overs. Despite regular wickets, the Tigers fought hard to post 177 all out in 33.5 overs, a defendable total on a slow surface.
Top Scorer: Yasir Amin - 57 (51)
Top Bowler: Vignesh - 4 for 38
Sydenham Tamil XI Innings
Defending a modest total, the Tigers’ bowlers came out firing. Khan Mohammad and Habib Ullah Marwat kept the openers quiet before Umair Maqbool and Muhammad Shakeel tightened the grip with disciplined spells.
But the day belonged to Yasir Amin, who completed a sensational all-round performance by taking 5 wickets for 24 runs in his 8 overs, marking his fifth career five-wicket haul for Cornered Tigers. His variations, accuracy, and ability to extract bounce from the wicket proved too much for Tamil XI.
Muhammad Shakeel (2/20) and Umair Maqbool (2/28) provided strong support, while debutant Luqman Sidhu impressed on his first outing, taking his maiden wicket for CT and bowling with great maturity.
Despite a fighting 48 from Dinesh Raja, the rest of the Tamil XI lineup crumbled against CT’s bowling attack. The innings ended at 150 all out in 37.1 overs, handing the Tigers a 27-run victory.
Top Bowler: Yasir Amin – 5/24 (8 overs)
Milestones:
Umair Shakeel: 101 Career Wickets (achieved in 102 innings)
Yasir Amin: 5th Career Five-Wicket Haul & First Half-Century for CT
Luqman Sidhu: CT Debut & First Wicket
Summary
A memorable win for the Tigers, built on teamwork, composure, and one outstanding all-round performance. Yasir Amin stole the spotlight with a fifty and a fifer, a rare feat in CT history. The debut of Luqman Sidhu added further promise to the squad’s bowling depth. And ofcourse, Gill's fearless batting.
With this win, Cornered Tigers advance to the next round of the EV Power Knockout.

Marist Harewood Tuskers Innings
Cornered Tigers started strong after winning the toss, with Khan Mohammad and Habib Marwat leading a fiery new-ball spell. The Tuskers were immediately under pressure as wickets fell regularly at one end, but a powerful knock from Martin Thomas ( 74 off 73 balls with 12 boundaries), rescued their innings and gave them something to defend.
For CT, Khan Mohammad continued his stellar form, taking 4 for 44 in 8 overs. Habib Marwat bowled with precision, claiming 3 for 30, while Umair Maqbool, Rafay Shakeel, and Funkar chipped in with a wicket each.
The Tuskers were bowled out for 168 in 33.1 overs. A total that felt within CT’s reach.
Top Batter (MHT): Martin Thomas - 74 (73)
Top Bowler (CT): Khan Mohammad - 4/44 (8 overs)
Cornered Tigers Innings
The chase began steadily with Abdul Wahad (16 off 25) and Muhammad Shakeel (30 off 30) giving CT a confident start. However, after both were dismissed, wickets began to fall at regular intervals. The middle order showed brief resistance through Umair Maqbool (19 off 20) and Gill (12 off 30), but CT struggled to build lasting partnerships.
The highlight of Tuskers’ bowling was Martin Thomas, who turned the game in their favour with an exceptional spell of 5 for 26 in 8 overs, breaking CT’s momentum just when they looked to stabilise.
Despite late efforts from Ali Mughal and the lower order, the Tigers fell short, being bowled out for 153 in 33.3 overs, just 15 runs shy of victory.
Top Scorer (CT): Muhammad Shakeel - 30 (30)
Best Bowler (MHT): Martin Thomas - 5/26 (8 overs)
Summary
It was a closely fought encounter that slipped away from Cornered Tigers after a strong start with the ball. The team displayed great effort and spirit throughout but will be left ruing missed opportunities in the chase.

Cornered Tigers Innings
Cornered Tigers began their innings with promise but were unable to convert their starts into a substantial total. Opener Abdul Wahad was the standout performer, showing composure and patience to score 40 off 72 balls. His partnership with Muhammad Shakeel (22 off 55) provided stability after early wickets.
A quick cameo from Hashir Sarwar (26 off 20, including 2 fours and 2 sixes) added some momentum in the middle overs, but a sudden collapse saw the Tigers lose wickets in quick succession. The lower order struggled against some sharp bowling from the Mavericks, particularly Dhiman Nonis, who ran through the lineup with an excellent spell of 5 for 11.
The Tigers were bowled out for 128 in 33 overs — a total that proved below par on a batting-friendly surface.
Top Scorer: Abdul Wahad – 40 (72)
Best Bowler (Mavericks): Dhiman Nonis – 5/11 (5 overs)
Halswell Mavericks Innings
In reply, the Mavericks made full use of the conditions. Buddhika Wettasinghe anchored the chase brilliantly, scoring 61 off 61 balls with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. His aggressive stroke play put the Tigers’ bowlers under constant pressure.
Despite a few breakthroughs from Khan Mohammad (2 for 35) and a wicket each from Funkar Singh and Hashir Sarwar, the Mavericks chased down the target comfortably in 21 overs, finishing at 129 for 4.
Top Scorer (Mavericks): Buddhika Wettasinghe – 61 (61)
Best Bowler (CT): Khan Mohammad – 2/35 (5 overs)
Summary
It was a tough outing for the Cornered Tigers, who couldn’t quite find their rhythm with the bat. A lack of partnerships and a disciplined opposition attack made the difference on the day. While the bowlers tried to make inroads, the target of 128 was never going to be enough against a strong Mavericks batting unit.
The team will look to regroup, work on converting starts into bigger scores, and come back stronger in the next match.
Milestone Achievement
A special mention for Khan Mohammad, who crossed the 50-wicket mark, now standing at 51 career wickets for Cornered Tigers; a fantastic achievement showcasing his consistency and value to the side.
