Please note the change this year - We will be using both the pavilion and Indoor Centre on the night - 6pm drinks in the pavilion, 7pm awards presentations in the Centre, and afterwards, food and drinks back in the pavilion

With Wednesday's first day of the Over 70's World Cup tournament in Christchurch abandoned after the poor weather in the lead up making pitch preparation impossible, the side Rest of the World squad, and the USA teams, have been conducting regular practices in the Indoor Centre - fortunately, the weather now looks perfect for cricket, for the next couple of weeks anyway

The pictures are of the USA squad.

Vistors to the indoor centre should be aware that there has been a recent spate of break-ins to cars in the park's car park - we would strongly suggest that nothing is left visible in your car, especially at night when it may be wiser to park in Brougham Street.

ITS BACK - for those of you who were aware, the bowling machine has been away for repairs for a few days. We are pleased to advise that it's now back in the centre, fully operational again, and now selectable when you look to book your lane in Pay-to-Play.

BOWLING MACHINE NOW AVAILABLE

The Indoor Centre's bowling machine is now available to non-members and "clickable" in Pay-to-Play when booking your lane. Please book your lane first then select the bowling machine if available.

Operation of the machine is covered in the link below to a Utube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XthYcv7E7iQ

As a guide to its operation:
- the operator of the machine is expected to use it in a responsible manner.
- all batters must be wearing protective gear when facing the bowling machine. Wearing a helmet it compulsory.
- make sure the batter is watching and ready before loading balls into the machine
- the professionals (first class cricketers) will have the max speed at 120-130KPH
- recommended for club cricketers speeds between 100-115KPh
- recommended for youth cricketers 85-100KPH

Great to see and hear the noise and activity in the Centre today as Kelly Sports runs its excellent school holiday program over the next two weeks.

Nelda Salt (centre), wife of stalwart, the late Brian Salt, finally paid a visit to the Indoor Centre today accompanied by two other legends in Dave and Dianne Gallop. Great to host them and show them the further great work that was started by DL, Salty and others many years ago

Great to see our nearest neighbours, Southern Districts Cricket Club, in the centre this weekend preparing for their upcoming season

The Indoor Centre has welcomed Kelly Sports to the facility over the two weeks of the school holidays. Amongst its other activities, Kelly Sports runs school holiday programs for 5-13 year olds which are both varied and entertaining, and from the sound levels evident over the days, clearly exciting and stimulating
