Nomads vs Cashere Juniors @ Centennial Park

02/09/2019

The last day of winter but its a glorious day the sun is shining😎😎 we have a full team including two subs and it only took me six minutes to get to Centennial Park. Cashmere Juniors are our opponents not a bad side can play good football hopefully we can at least score today.

Nomads kick off and lose possession Juniors put us under pressure straight away they shoot but sails over the bar. We regain our composure and let the ball do the work πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I will confess we are playing some good footy Cookie doing a great job down the right flank defending without damaging anyone. Juniors have a few opportunities but Sheldon is doing a great job in goal very demanding and confident. Brian breaks the deadlock after 35 minutes with a brilliant shot into bottom left hand corner, crowd goes wild (well Weeksey Kevin & Age 🀣🀣πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ).

Second half we press Juniors hoping to score a second goal but on numerous occasions we leave ourselves open but Juniors unable to take advantage. Juniors continue to pile on the pressure with Malcolm making vital interceptions. After defending another corner we make a break Greg recieves the ball in our half and races towards goal, then the ref blows the whistle.

Final Score 1-0

Coastal Spirits O"Sheas vs Nomads

25/08/2019

Tullet Park is the venue, Coastal Spirits O"Sheas is our opposition we have 13 players total hooray!!!!
I can not remember who kicked off but it soon became apparent that it was going to be one of those days, it was satisfying to see us at the other of the pitch trying to score, Mark off like a whippet but I think he ran out of breath and kicked the ball straight at the goalie. A couple of elbows from Coastal resulted in one black eye and a bloody nose i hope we don't end up brawling!!! Our set pieces were textbook stuff Morrie was unlucky not to score.Steve decided to make things more interesting by scoring an own goal.πŸ€ͺ

Second half Coastal come out to finish the game off but we refuse to back down I sense a disturbance in The Force πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Weeksey takes flight down the right wing and crosses but no one in the box but Weeksey is on a mission and puts it in the box only for Steve head it into the side netting. One last chance another cross Mark eyes open wide and strikes the ball, three points if your playing rugby!!!🀣🀣🀣🀣

Final Score 0-1

Damn it's so cold today just watched Quincy play at Barnett Park and got soaked and then drove all the way to Tullet Park to watch us play against Selwyn Utd FC Nags. We conceded five goals last time hopefully we give them a game.
As I look across to the bench I see Alan hiding behind a tree fighting the rain with his umbrella, yep our bench is looking aneroxic. By half time it's 0-1 to Nags

As we resume for the second half the rain eases off slightly but it's still a nightmare, defintely no tiki-taka but there is still some good footy being played. The state of the pitch takes me back to the 70's no idea where the lines are, just a mud bath.
We concede another three times.

Final Score 0-4

At Elmwood Park today up against Old Boys Blobbies, the pitch is in a terrible state no doubt its going to affect our game today.
We kick off with ten players all knowing that the only way we get a break is at half time or heaven forbid an injury. To be honest we are playing pretty good, yes we are defending more than them but we are doing it with style 😎😎😁 On the rare occasion that we are in their half Cookie has a shot on goal.⚽️
Blobbies concede a penalty, Brian steps up and the goalie saves it S**T!!!! Blobbies continue to attack to no avail, Age closes down their striker who is about to score and in doing so gets injured, damn he was playing so well. Half time 0-0

Only nine left hope no more fall down, after downing the gummy worms we go out with renewed vigour determine to at least get a draw. Unfortuanately Blobbies had other ideas and to be honest it was'nt as if they played great footy pretty scrappy goals. Cookie turned up at the other end of the pitch and had another shot on goal⚽️ which did not trouble their keeper.

Final Score 0-5

First game in three weeks, two of those we had to forfeit players on international duties or injured and the third week to weather, we need to get back to winning ways. Fifth place in the league at the moment hopefully we can get fourth to guarantee Champions League football next season πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

At Tullet Park up against Parklands they smashed us last time 5-0 hopefully we can do the same to them. We kick off and it soon becomes apparent that we are playing pretty good footy, but so are Parklands. Our defence/midfield are too close not giving ourselves space, Parklands score when we fail to clear the ball.
Feeling optimistic we adopt to play the Barca way lots of one touch passes I was quite impressed, then I realised it was half time and I was dreaming. πŸ˜ŽπŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Second half for the first ten minutes we were stuck in our half we did manage to see the other half of the pitch but unable to convert any chances. Parklands had several chances to score but Age managed to close them down each time he was having an outstanding game. Soon enough Parklands scored again it was a cracker we should have closed him down, we conceded another two. Mark very unlucky not to score with his header also Steve's half volley which was blocked, for the last five minutes we had them under intense pressure but unable to score.😟😟

Final Score 0-4

Top of the table clash, the most anticipated game of the season, the one the pundits are calling tika taka vs the long ball. It has been talked up as possibly on par with the 1970 World Cup Final Brazil vs Italy and we haven't even kicked a ball yet!!!!

Reality hits home fairly quickly when I see our lack of subs only Paul on sidelines we're in trouble. Selwyn Fc Nags are playing pretty good footie, but to be honest it is a very even game no real opportunities for either side. We are playing very good footie making the ball do the work Morrie, Brian & Tony moving the ball round and passing to feet, damn it was so sexy !!!
Brian goes down injured not looking good, Paul comes on this is gonna be a tough game no more subs. We concede just before half time unable to clear the ball Selwyn make us pay 1-0.

Second half, Still in with a chance we march out with chests puffed out knowing if we get through the first 20 mins we might pull off greatest upset the league has ever seen remiscent of Barca vs PSG. Mark & Paul unable to find the pace to get pass the defenders. Selwyn have other ideas and try to put the game to bed but our defensive backline hold firm.

Final Score 1-0
