WHY BLITZ? WE HAVE A PLAN. 💪

Turning up is only part of the equation.

Research consistently shows that gym attendance tends to decline over time, and as you get fitter and stronger, progress becomes harder to achieve by simply doing more of the same.

That’s why at Blitz, we have a plan.

Your training is programmed.
Your progress is monitored.
Your training changes as you improve.
And experienced coaches are there every session to guide you.

No wandering around wondering what to do next.

You bring the effort. We bring the plan.

Tomorrow we kick off the next phase of our strength training 💪

For the next few weeks, we’ll be revisiting some of our previous strength programmes and conducting strength testing along the way.

We’ll have two testing protocols available:

1. Fixed-weight max reps — choose an appropriate weight and complete as many technically sound reps as possible. We’ll record your result and retest it after a period of training.

2. One-rep max (1RM) — for experienced lifters who our trainers assess as technically competent and safe to do so, 1RM testing may be permitted under the guidance of our experienced staff.

Not everyone needs to test a 1RM to measure progress — the goal is simply to establish where you are now, train, and see what we can improve. 💪

Your body isn’t random.
It’s a reflection of the choices you make every day.

💪 Muscle doesn’t just appear.
It comes from training consistently, recovering properly, eating well, and showing up even when you don’t feel like it.

👇 Body fat doesn’t just appear either.
It’s usually the result of hundreds of small decisions made over months and years. Not one big meal. Not one missed workout. The habits you repeat most often.

🎯 Your body is a report card of your lifestyle.

Stop looking for the perfect program.
Nail the basics.
Train hard. Recover well. Eat sensibly. Be consistent.

The results will follow.

It’s interesting how differently people experience the same situation.

Some people’s thoughts seem to drive their feelings.

They think, “This will be good for me. I’ll feel better afterwards. I’ve never regretted doing it.” Those thoughts create positive feelings, which make taking action easier.

Other people seem to work the other way around.

They start with how they feel. “I’m tired. It’s cold. I’m not in the mood.” Those feelings influence their thoughts, which can quickly become reasons not to act.

Neither approach is right or wrong—it’s just worth noticing which one you tend to use.

Take coming to Blitz on a cold winter evening.

One person thinks, “I’ll feel amazing once I’ve done it.” They turn up and usually do.

Another person focuses on how they feel right now: tired, comfortable on the couch, not motivated. They stay home and never get the chance to find out how good they might have felt afterwards.

Sometimes the biggest difference between attending and not attending isn’t fitness, ability, or motivation.

It’s simply whether your thoughts are leading your feelings, or your feelings are leading your thoughts. 👊

Women who avoid heavy weights may be leaving one of the most powerful longevity tools on the table, according to Dr. Stacy Sims.

As estrogen levels decline with age, the body becomes more vulnerable to losses in bone density, muscle mass, and fast-twitch muscle fibers that support strength, power, and independence.

Sims argues that progressive overload is essential for preserving myosin function and maintaining the type of muscle tissue most associated with healthy aging and physical resilience.

While lighter weights and high-rep training can improve muscular endurance, they don't provide the same stimulus for bone growth and maximal strength that heavy lifting delivers.

The benefits extend beyond the gym, with muscle-building exercise supporting metabolic health, increasing neuroprotective compounds like BDNF, and helping safeguard cognitive function later in life.

Although activities such as yoga and Pilates improve mobility, flexibility, and balance, Sims views them as complements—not replacements—for challenging strength work.

Her approach combines efficient 30-minute compound lifting sessions with smart nutrition, adequate protein, and evidence-based supplements such as creatine to support long-term health and performance.
