National Afghan Futsal Tournament 2025

Alhamdulillah, what an incredible weekend it was. From start to finish, the tournament was filled with exciting matches, electric energy, and incredibly skilled players from across New Zealand and Australia. ⚽️🔥

A massive thank you to all 16 teams who participated – your passion, teamwork and sportsmanship made this tournament something to be proud of.
Special thanks to our referees:
Chris Sinclair and the team from Mainland Futsal and our own Mazar and Shujaat who travelled down from Auckland.
Your professionalism and calm presence kept the games fair and competitive.
Thank you to Fadi and the FC Palestine Team for joining us.
The tournament showcased unity across our wider community through futsal. It was more than just a competition, it was a celebration of culture, brotherhood and pride.

In a thrilling finale, it came down to Part Time Ballers (PTB) from NZ, who had just knocked out the reigning champions Wave FC, and the returning finalists from Sydney, Azadi FC. After an intense, back-and-forth match, it went all the way to penalties and Azadi FC came out on top.

Congratulations to Azadi FC and hats off to PTB for an incredible game.

In the Men’s Plate Final, well done to Auckland Boys who defeated Esteghlal FC (Christchurch) in a great performance. Solid effort and well deserved.

A huge thank you to MainPower Stadium, and to Paul and his team, for hosting this tournament for the 4th consecutive year. You’ve been incredible hosts once again.

Well done to all our Youth Teams who played with heart, skill and discipline – the future looks bright and we can’t wait to see where you go next.

Finally, from the Tournament Management Team, thank you to everyone who supported, volunteered and contributed behind the scenes. This was a true community effort and we can’t wait to welcome you all back next year, inshallah.
