The latest is that Tourney has been updated, the first games will start at 6.42am, with no games being lost.
πππIf you want to have you car in the polo area tomorrow then you must be there early and your vehicle must stay in the area until the end of the tournament and the gate will be locked for the rest of the day.
If you intend to come and go throughout the day then you must park at the top again as the gate will not be opened.
For those that want to help with setup please be there at 6:00am

*** IMPORTANT PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ***
Due to roading and carpark construction work that is currently underway at Lake Roto Kohatu - there will be no vehicle access beyond the top gate from this Friday evening onwards to the canoe polo area!.
This is due to health & safety requirements that both the CCC and the Contractor are having to abide with which are being imposed upon them by other parties. Starting this Saturday there will be a number of heavy vehicle movements on the road and their concern is for everyones safety.
What does this mean for SI Champs?
All players and spectators will have to park their vehicle at the top carpark and any gear that you require will have to be carried down to the polo pitches. There will be no exceptions.
We know this is not ideal and we have been working hard along with the Rangers to try and resolve the situation, looking for alternative access, traffic management startegies etc. but due to other users of the lake and security issues etc. these have not been feasible.
The Rangers are not happy about the situation as are we, another major event that was also scheduled has now been cancelled because of this.
What can you do to help?
Get there early and assist those with setup and help during the day carry gear to and from the pitches. We will have a couple of 'service vehicles' that will have access to the area as they will have the main gear for setup, gazebos, generators, scoreboards, toilets etc. but they must remain parked once setup is complete.
Again, it's not an ideal situation at all but if we all pull together we will make this tournament work and it will be one where we can be proud and say we all did this together. 2020 won't get us down!
Due to low demand and substantial organistion needed we are cancelling the Saturday night Fundraising BBQ this year.
Air New Zealand have flights on sale from $49 for the weekend of South Island Champs 2020. This includes flights from Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay!!! Get booking everyone!
