Thinking about joining us? We have four weekly runs:
ππ¨ Our fast 6pm Tuesday hill run - you donβt have to be a speedster but youβll be well served if you are, with the front crew sprinting off into the hills on a planned route. If youβre more a cruiser thereβll be a 10km option with the more genteel runners
πββοΈπββοΈ 6pm Thursday speed training - meet at the club for a jog to Hagley Park then intervals guided by our coach, Don Greig, who is amazing at getting the best out of everyone, no matter their level. Thereβs also the option to meet us at the park - email us for details if this fits your schedule better.
ππ 8am Saturday mid distance run - a cruisy vibe, often a walkers crew as well as runners, and some pre-planned distance options starting at 10km. These are mostly flat but sometimes we throw a hill in for fun. ;-)
πββοΈπ² 8am Sunday long trail run - this one is for the seasoned runners, 2-3 hours on the trails in the Port Hills, route determined by whoever shows up, so bring your navigational skills, plus water and any fuel you need.

Christchurch Run Club has been around for yonks (42 years if you want to be precise) and our purpose is supporting recreational runners. If you want a friendly crew to run with, and several options each week that you can just show up to when it suits you - come and give us a try!

We're running our half marathon training group again for 2025 - this will start on 11 January and provides distance guidelines, includes our speed training sessions and means you can train with a group and run the half at Christchurch Marathon on 13 April with our team.
There are four recommended runs per week, three with us (though you can do your own thing if it suits you better) and one solo; we'll provide the programme and weekly emails to spur you on too.
Our club is currently offering free membership for the year (usually $65 a year, which is super cheap anyway!) so there's never been a better time to check us out! Drop a comment or email [email protected] if you want more info. π π πββοΈ

Opening Week fun runs start tonight! These mark the first week of our club season, and just give us an excuse to make things extra fun.
πββοΈ The Tuesday run is a 10/12km hill run (pick your option), a fun adventure taking some less obvious paths to take advantage of the start of daylight savings. We'll then shout pizza at the clubroom so stick around to share kai! π
πOn Thursday our speed training will have a fun twist (you'll have to come to find out more!)
πββοΈOur Saturday morning route follows the river (out one side, return on the other) so you can choose to do the full 14km, or take your turn at any of the many bridges along the way to shorten your run to as little as 5km, or anything in between - then hang around at the clubroom for a cuppa and some brownie.
Tuesday and Thursday runs are at 6pm; Saturday is 8am; all three meet at the Barrington Tennis Club clubroom on Garnett Ave in Spreydon.
Come along and join the fun, bring your friends, and see what we're all about.
