Welcome back to Term 2 everyone! Hope you have all had a great time over the break and are ready to get back into Fencing! 🤺

IMPORTANT: Ecclestons begins at *9:45am* to have adequate time organising heats, please arrive early or on time.

Next week is go ahead as usual Saturday 10:00 - 12:00, after the extended break due to Anzac Day.

Our first upcoming event is the Ecclestons Cup, May 16th at UC Rec Centre. Come along for a fun and competitive time - See you all there!

This weekend (21/03) we have our first club competition of the year- Autumn Cup!!
This is a friendly club competition for our club members (and others who wish to partake) following the classic competition format.
Comp is free for club members and $5 for non-members.
We are starting the competition at 10:00am and so for the sake of our organisers please turn up 9:30am at the latest so we can make sure everyone is entered into the computer on time.

So come join us for a fun, relaxed competition!

Welcome all to the first UC Fencing Club movie night of the year! 🍿🎬

Meet us at 5:30pm Friday 13th March in the Room of Requirement (upstairs in the UCSA building next to Bentleys), or beforehand for drinks & chats at the Foundry Bar.

We will be watching the the classic fencing film
“Barbie and the Three Musketeers.”

Kia Ora Fencers,
There has been a change to our training venue this Saturday (07/03). Instead of being in the UC Rec Centre we will be at the Christchurch Fencing Institute at 91 Jack Hinton Drive, Addington.
The Institute is located very close to the Orbiter route and easy to access from UC. If you require a lift please send a message before Saturday morning.
This change will only be for Saturday the 7th! For Friday 6th we will be in UC Rec centre, and returning to the Rec Centre the following week (13th & 14th)

The university semester is back and so we are back in action!!
Friday (5pm-7pm) and Saturday (10am-12pm) trainings have both now started, located at the UC Rec Centre (past reception and to the right). Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes and bring a water bottle.
All are welcome, from absolute beginners to our experienced club members.
If you registered during clubs day please check your emails (and junk mail). We had some emailing problems last week so my apologies to anyone who hasn't received the welcoming email, if you haven't received it feel free to send a message and let us know.

Congratulations to all of our fencers who attended this year's ✨ Mid South Championships ✨. Congratulations to our Women's Epeeist Renee Phillips and Madelaine Barbarics for taking Silver and Bronze, a well fought semi finals between the two. Well done to Renee for making another final in the Women's Foil. Congratulations to our men's Epeeist, what a tough field this competition 🏆, Well done Sam McArthur for taking bronze 🥉.
And thank you to our coach Dylan Thomson for his hard work coaching everyone this weekend, and managing to coach so many Minute Breaks at the same time 😆
