Osu,
Congratulations to everyone who took promotion today at Christchurch Shibu.
What a fantastic effort from all involved. It was especially encouraging to see so many young people progressing through the grades. This is a credit to the dedication of Kyoshi Cheryl, Liz, and the many parents who ensure their children attend training week after week.
We also saw a very strong group of senior students step forward. A special mention goes to the green and yellow belts who challenged themselves today, demonstrating such strong spirit and technique. We are grateful for your willingness to step outside your comfort zone and test yourselves. That courage and commitment are what help us grow.
To all those who took promotion, well done. Enjoy a well-deserved and restful Sunday after your hard work.
To the parents, families, and supporters, thank you. Your commitment and encouragement are deeply appreciated and play an important role in the success of our students.
Finally, thank you to all the dojo members who supported the promotion today. Your time, energy, and guidance are invaluable, and your contribution helps create the strong and positive dojo spirit we are proud of.
A few more photos will be posted tomorrow.
Osu. Congratulations to everyone.

Osu! No parking in our usual carpark after midday tomorrow!
On behalf of Jun Shihan Kim, please note that the usual car park will not be available tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, 13 June).
Please do not park in the car park from 12:00pm onwards. We recommend allowing a little extra time to find alternative parking and arriving early for the 1:00pm promotion.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Osu.

Osu everyone,
Wishing you all a wonderful and restorative King’s Birthday Weekend. Please see below for the classes that will still be running over the long weekend.
Take some time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. We look forward to seeing those who are training over the weekend, including any Seido visitors to Canterbury!

A truly memorable and heartfelt evening was shared at the dojo as we gathered to honour the life of Sensei Jim Mitchell. Out of respect, no photos were taken. It was a night for reflection, remembrance, and connection.
In a deeply moving moment, Senpai Bex hung her Dad’s belt on the dojo rafter, and together we acknowledged the beautiful man we all lovingly remember as “Big Jim.” Stories were shared, laughter mixed with tears, a sake toast was raised in his honour, and one of his favourite songs filled the dojo.
Afterwards, many walked together to our new “local” where the conversations continued - those very special talks filled with treasured memories, friendship, and gratitude for having known such a remarkable man.
On behalf of Eiko Hanshi Renzie and Shuseki Shihan Harry, thank you to everyone who attended and helped celebrate a life so well lived. Sensei Jim’s spirit, kindness, humour, and strength will remain forever part of our dojo family.

Eiko Hanshi, Sensei Jake, and the Monday night crew warmly welcomed Sensei Sam Gray, Jaquie, and Mayumi to the 6pm class at Christchurch Dojo this evening. It was truly special to have Sensei Sam training with us again.
Sensei Sam is the Head Instructor of Seido Sunnybank Karate and is currently in New Zealand visiting family. Having him back on the dojo floor was a real privilege and a wonderful treat for everyone present.
We wish Sensei Sam, Jaquie, and Mayumi safe and enjoyable travels for the rest of their time in New Zealand.

Osu, sincere congratulations to Nidan Senpai Hayden Kinzett, who performed to an exceptionally high standard during his Nidan promotion this week at New Brighton Seido Karate dojo.
Jun Shihan Scott would like to extend his sincere gratitude to all black belts who attended and supported Senpai Hayden’s promotion.
To Eiko Hanshi Renzie and Shuseki Shihan Harry - "your presence and encouragement meant a great deal to both Jun Shihan Scott and Senpai Hayden".
This was an especially memorable occasion, marking Jun Shihan Scott’s first Nidan promotion and also the very first Nidan promotion for the New Brighton Dojo.
A truly proud and significant milestone for all involved.
Osu!
