Happy International Women’s Day to the incredible women of NSW Woodchopping! 🪓💪
Today we celebrate every woman who plays a role in our sport, the competitors on the stand, the officials, the volunteers, and the many working behind the scenes to keep everything running.
How lucky are we in NSW to have such a powerhouse lineup of women driving our sport forward with strength, skill and passion.
Here’s to the women who swing the axes, support the events, and continue to grow woodchopping for the next generation. 💙🪓

History was made in Canberra as the NSW Women’s Team had the incredible honour of competing in the first ever Women’s Tri-Series against Queensland and the South Island of New Zealand.
To line up against some of the world’s best female competitors was something truly special. This race wasn’t just about results, it was a powerful showcase of how far women’s woodchopping has come, and the remarkable level of competition now driving the sport forward.
Each race was a display of grit, determination and pride in the jersey. Congratulations to Queensland for taking out the win, a well-earned victory in a fiercely contested series.
But beyond the blocks and the battle, what stood out most was the camaraderie. The friendships formed, the encouragement between teams, and the sportsmanship shown across the entire event were just as inspiring as the racing itself. For our younger athletes to stand shoulder to shoulder with women who have paved the way in this sport was something pretty special, a reminder that we are building more than competitors; we are building a legacy.
A huge thank you to Shaun O’Connor and NSW Axemen’s Association for spearheading this groundbreaking event, and to the Canberra Show for hosting and supporting women’s competition on this stage.
If this weekend proved anything, it’s that this is only the beginning. We are certain this is the first of many Women’s Tri-Series to come and we can’t wait to see what the future holds
