SIPT is back for 2026!

This is an awesome experience to get a first taste of tournament basketball for our year 7/8 students and it is hosted locally at Mainpower stadium.

📣 Welcome to SIPT 2026!

We’re excited to announce that the South Island Primary Tournament (SIPT) 2026 will be held at Mainpower Stadium from April 10th–12th, 2026.

🔥 Tournament Format
This year we will be running a 5v5 competition only for Year 7 & 8 players. Unfortunately, there will be no 3v3 competition this year, but it is set to return in 2027!
As 3v3 is not available this year, Year 6 students may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

📅 Trial Dates

Trial #1 – Thursday 26th February (Mainpower Stadium)
⏰ Girls: 5:00–6:00pm
⏰ Boys: 6:00–7:30pm

Trial #2 – Sunday 1st March (Mainpower Stadium)
⏰ Girls & Boys: 12:00–1:30pm

🏀 Trainings
Trainings will be held on Sundays 12:00–2:00pm starting 8th March.

REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN for the NCBA FNBB 6 week, term 1, 2025 competition.

This is the ‘non competitive’ competition and as such there will not be any trials.

Year 5/6 players will be 3v3 mini ball style games. Girls or boys, not mixed. Played on Thursdays.

Year 7/8 is mixed, 5 aside. Played on Fridays.
(Depending on numbers a girls only team may be entered into the girl got game section of FNBB)

We welcome players of all abilities who live or go to school on the north side of the Waimak bridge - this applies to all new player registrations.
Please register (using the wufoo form below) by 2nd February 2025 at the latest. This will allow us time to create the teams and register them with NCBA. (Term basketball is starting earlier this year so very sharp turn around this year unfortunately.)

Games are played at Mainpower and occasionally Kaiapoi high. The draw will come out start of the week for that weeks game.
The dates are as follows:
Term 1 Thursday Dates 2026 - 3x3
February 12,19, 26
March 5,12, 19

Term 1 Friday Dates 2026 - 5v5
February 13,20,27
March 6,13,20

Our club will enter teams for year 5/6 and year 7/8.
The cost is approx $70 per person, while this is yet to be confirmed though (Until we receive costs from NC and training venue hire)
Once teams are finalized then we can work on ensuring we have enough coaches and managers and book the KHS gym for trainings. Trainings have in the past been on a Tuesday.

2025 KJBC Prizegiving 🏆

On Tuesday we celebrated another great year of KJBC basketball. It’s always awesome to see how connected the kids are by the end of the season.

We celebrated our all stars for their efforts and getting selected to play in the FNBB all star game:

Please bring a spare change of clothes to your games as these uniforms will need to be returned following your game.

2025 KJBC Prize-giving is just around the corner. Our prize-giving is set to be held in the KHS old gym 6-7pm on the 9th of December.
