We have lost another MPCC legend.

Don Gordon
Passed on the 30th of August at an impressive 93 years old.

Don was MPCC's second president 1977-1980
He joined the club in the 68/69 season and was also a life member.

Senior A - 723 runs at 17 best of 69, 109 wickets at 14.71.

Senior B - 454 runs at 12 best of 67, 98 wickets at 12.42 best of 6/19

1308 club runs 285 wickets.

Has a 3A hat trick in 77/78

COMMUNITY UMPIRING WORKSHOP

Christchurch Metro Cricket, in conjunction with the Canterbury Umpires and Scorers Association (CUSA), is pleased to once again offer its popular Community Player Umpire Workshops ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Led by experienced umpires David Henderson and Matthew Hill, with support from other members of the Umpires Association, these interactive sessions are designed to help players improve their understanding of the Laws of Cricket, decision-making, game management, and on-field conduct.
This year's workshops will feature a combination of video analysis, presentations, practical field craft, and small group discussions covering common umpiring situations such as wides, no balls, and player conduct before finishing with a communal discussion session.

Today we are saddened to announce the loss of one of our own.

A life member of MPCC
He joined the club in 1969-70
Was club president 1986-1988

Senior A cap number 17.

Senior A - 34 innings 578 runs with a best of 63
14 wickets at 14.00
Senior B - 38 innings 647 runs best of 70*
38 wickets at 16.92
Club overall 1,718 runs and 138 wickets

Ken also took 51 wickets in the 75/76 season
Recipient of the Peter Russell trophy 1976-77

After struggling with illness for the past few years,
Ken lived until the grand age of 92!

His family will be holding a memorial at a later date.

Updating for the season ahead? Donate the old and loved, if it is still in good condition.
These people then help to pass it on to people who would love to give it some more use. Kids getting into cricket etc.

There are drop off points all over CHCH, but i am going to enquire about having one at the club.
