It is with regret that we announce the discontinuation of our Junior Classes for the foreseeable future due to very small numbers.

This has been a difficult decision to make, and we would like to sincerely thank all of our junior members and their families for their support, commitment, and energy in the club.

As a result, our Intermediate and Senior classes will now train together from 6:30pm–8:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting Monday, February 16th.

Our usual Saturday class will remain unchanged (9:30am–10:30am).

We truly appreciate your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly.

🥋 Honoring Two Legends of SKJJ 🥋
In martial arts, we often celebrate milestones like gradings and promotions, but yesterday, we took a moment to honour something just as important—the incredible journeys of two of our own, whose days of regular training have come to an end.

Keith and Brownie embody the true essence of budo—always giving more than they take, always leading with generosity and kindness. We are deeply grateful to have shared in their Jiu Jitsu journeys. A few years ago, both were awarded their Ikkyu brown belts—a grade neither expected nor thought they would achieve, yet one they earned through dedication and perseverance.

🔹 Brownie - A man of mana, whānau, and wairua toa (warrior spirit). For over 30 years, he has been associated with SKJJ—always patient, always willing to share his wisdom, especially when it came to his legendary boxing lessons!
🔹 Keith - Proof that you’re never too old to start a martial art. Over the past 10 years, he has been an inspiration, always showing up to support the juniors. The ‘silver assassin’ may be stepping back, but his influence will live on.

Both men have set a standard of excellence that will serve as a blueprint for future generations. Though we’ll miss them in training, we know we’ll see them at upcoming events.

Keith, Brownie - ngā mihi nunui (huge thanks) for the unending kindness, generosity, and joy you have brought to our dojo. Osu!

Adult training resumes tonight Monday, 15th January at the earlier time of 6.30pm-8pm (during school holidays only).

Junior classes will resume Monday, 29th January. See you on the mat.

With our end of year celebrations tomorrow we would like to congratulate all our students on your hard work and dedication this year. A special thank you to our senior students who regularly help with the junior classes.
