Papanui Club Outdoor Bowls

Today, our Junior Sevens completed in the post Section of the Sevens held at Fendalton. Commencing after the rain affected games several weeks ago, the team got over Club Redcliffs in their first round.

Facing Rangiora in the next round, the team fell short of the hurdle, winning the singles, losing the fours and then losing the pairs on an extra end.

A semi final is a beautiful result, and these guys represented the papanui Club hard! They're all winners regardless.

Thanks to Rodney Downes our singles player, Logan Clark and Paul Veitch .our pairs, and Greg Hughes Guy Taylor Lisa Mitchell Sharee Mackenzie for the fours.

Special mention to Paul Adams and Kyael Heads for being in the original side but couldn't play due to being away.

Some new bowling fans at the junior pair playoffs

Well everyone our Men's and Women's teams who made it to the Champ of Champion national events in Hastings unfortunately failed to qualify.

There were many close games throughout but they did the Canterbury Region proud and the Papanui Club Outdoor Bowls.

Thanks to Terry Stewart, Brian Heemi, Rick Day, Mark Lewis and the ladies of Mary Pyke, Sheri Cottle, Sharon Wilson and Jilian Monopoli for being awesome!

The Papanui Club page during the off season is going to get a revamp. A new page is going to be created allowing it to be more user friendly for people to access, post on and use, as well as us who administrate it. The current platform is not user friendly and is not suited for a Facebook community page.

We will add the link on here and have Sharon send a link out to our members once it is live for you to join.

If you personally wish to take photos off here, or save posts for your own interest now is a good time to do it.

The Aim is for the new page to be alot more accessible and easier to access then the current one, allowing people who wish to post and copy posts see the results on our page.

Today, the Papanui Club finished the last bits and pieces of their club championships.

The U8 Pairs final and the Handicap Singles.

Gerard and Logan Clark pulled through in the final end to clinch the victory going unbeated throughout the season against Paul Adam's and Guy Taylor.

Paul had another final in the Handicap Singles against Linton Churches, Paul bringing out se beautiful bowls to win comfortably. Well done Paul .

A brilliant spread of winners this year.

Well Done and Congratulations to Paul Veitch and Lisa Mitchell on todays efforts for the Champion of Champion Under 5 Singles today.

Paul Veitch had a great start winning over the Darfield Rep, skipped the second game against Methven as the Guy didn't show up, and then Battled against Hornby's Shane Bell to which Shane came out the Winner, not quite the game Paul would have hoped for, but did himself proud!

Well Done Veitchy!

Lisa Mitchell has a great day on her home Turf, with a hard win over the Belfast Representative. Lisa then faced Stroma from Sydenham, whom she bet, and then the lovely Joyce Speedy from Riccarton Race Course.. A tight battled ensued, with Joyce pulling away at the end to win 21-17. Hard Luck Lisa, but an awesome game!

Thanks to all the Pap Club Supporters who watched both games, great numbers at Belfast to watch Paul! and great Numbers too at the home club (as expected)

A Valiant effort from our Men's and Women's Triples teams today in the COC Triples.

Our Woman lost in the first round against Redcliffs/Mt Pleasant at Halswell.

Our Men consisting of Rodney Downes, Paul Veitch and Linton Churches had a great win against Redcliff's/Mt Pleasant. The Second match was against the Elmwood Trio of Ricky Cook, NZ Singles Champ Kelvin Scott and Skip Nathan Glasson. Our boys put up a good fight, but did go down to a class act, who would be favorites to take out the title.
