🌿 Week 2-3 Highlights: Rangatahi Mau Rākau at Linwood Rugby Club 🌿
The last two weeks have been full-on, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. The rangatahi have been putting in the mahi, levelling up their skills, and building that solid whanaungatanga that makes this kaupapa special.
One of the meanest parts so far? Araki Mā. Think of it like a mix between a strategy game and a bit of controlled chaos. Players are in teams, and you’ve gotta stay sharp or you’re out. The catch? It’s not just about speed or power it’s about knowing when to lead, when to follow, and when to back your team.
Someone’s calling the shots, someone else is making split-second decisions, and then there’s always that one tamariki pulling a cheeky move to outsmart the rest (we love it). Yo you miss the rākau? No stress—just laugh it off and jump back in. It’s all about manaaki, rangatiratanga, and learning from mistakes without even realizing you’re doing it.
By the end of the game, they’re not just playing a game they’re catching life lessons: teamwork, leadership, and how to back yourself and your mates.
📸 Peep the pics from weeks 2-3 below. Full focus, and heaps of mahi toa.
📅 Next sesh: Sunday, 2-4 pm at Linwood Rugby Club. It’s free, so come get amongst it.
Chur to everyone supporting the kaupapa—you make this happen. 🔥✊🏾💚🖤

Kia ora e te whānau! 🌿🔥
Hope you’ve all had a tino pai start to the year! Just a quick reminder that the first Rangatahi Mau Rākau session kicks off āpōpō from 2 PM to 4 PM at Linwood Rugby Club 🏉 (Tāne Norton Park, 56 Kearneys Rd).
We’ll get things moving with a paku kēmu (big game) of bullrush (with tags), then split into rōpū pakeke (age groups) and dive into some mahi.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the papa kēmu (Bullring) āpōpō! 🌟
Ngā mihi

Tēnā koutou e te whānau!
🌿 More highlights from our incredible first week of Rangatahi Mau Rākau! 💥 Our tamariki showed mana, pūngao, and whanaungatanga as they learned mau rākau, embraced Te Ao Māori, and played exciting tākaro like Hopu Ariki! 🗡️🎯
✨ Hopu Ariki not only hones physical skills like agility and coordination but also instills values like manaakitanga, kotahitanga, and whanaungatanga. Watching our tamariki strategize, laugh, and grow through this game has been meke!
🌟 He mihi nui ki ngā mātua me te whānau for your tautoko – this kaupapa thrives because of you! Let’s keep the wairua strong as we continue to empower our rangatahi.
Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui! 💪✨
