Everyone now know's Noel is legend.
👍 Nice one Andrei Moore - Councillor for Halswell
Noel Hopgood is undoubtedly one of the greatest Halswell legends to ever exist and has been contributing to our community ever since moving here in 1958.
Not one to muck around, Noel co-founded Halswell United AFC shortly after moving here and has contributed in one way or another to both the club and countless other Halswell community groups, causes & initiatives ever since.
He's in his mid nineties now but still seems to have more energy than the average 35 year old. You'll still catch him down at Halswell Domain to cheer on the hawks, you'll still catch him handing out service sheets at the Halswell ANZAC Service each year for which he is on the committee for and you'll still catch him down at the Halswell Bowling Club where he services as a liaison officer.
You'll also find him down at the Halswell Community Hub every week being as kind, welcoming and cheeky as ever where he formed a new weekly mahjong group 8 years ago which started small and now hosts a huge crowd every week. I understand he isn't known as Noel there but instead as "lovely Noel".
Kate & Keri nominated him for a Community Service Award for his ongoing contributions at the Hub but sure enough he already received a service award from our Board in 2004 because of course he did.
Sure enough there's always a workaround for these things so we awarded him with an even more prestigious followup certificate of appreciation and I've never witnessed someone accept an award so humbly while also delivering a no holds barred acceptable speech that brings the house down in hysterics.
Good onya Noel something tells me the next award won't be too far away.

🔎 This week's Club Fan Spotlight is on Garden City Painters !
Last season, the team generously completed the painting work at our Warren Park clubrooms, helping refresh the facility and create a welcoming space for our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters. Their professionalism and quality workmanship made a real difference, and we're incredibly grateful for their contribution.
Whether you're looking to freshen up your home or tackle a commercial painting project, we encourage our members to support the local businesses that support our club.
Thank you to Garden City Painters for your ongoing support of Halswell United AFC.
