Hope to see you then
Hi everyone,
Just a reminder the season starts tomorrow morning, Saturday April 1st.
Everything will be at Ferrymead Park, on the back senior field, which is nearest to the gondola.
The first Saturday this year is going to be an introduction "Club Day". Xavier Morin from Mainland Football is coming out to deliver the sessions. The idea behind this is that he will be including parents as Game Leaders and outline the roles that active parents need to play in order to make the sessions successful.
On any given Saturday the kids are split into groups of no more than 10 (2 x 5-a-side) and go through a station rotation. Each station is overseen by a parent (Game Leader), who has a game card so knows what they are doing. It's pretty simple stuff. Savanah and Omar will ensure Game Leaders are in place and equipment is sorted for the day.
See the link below for the NZ Football Junior Framework - it's quite in depth, but if you can take time to flick through the relevant bits, you get a good understanding of the programme.,
http://www..nzfootball.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/McDonalds-Junior-Framework-Manual.pdf
So...2 things:
1. The Saturday will be broken into 2 sessions.
First Kicks for kids turning 4, 5 or 6 in 2017 will be from 9am to 10.15am.
Fun Football for kids turning 7 or 8 in 2017 will be from 10.30am to 11.45am.
But on Saturdays after that, the sessions will run together from 9am-10am.
2. You will realise we're on the lookout for active parents - we need parent help to run the programme successfully. This is as we've done over the last few years. Please let me know by return if at this stage you're prepared to assist on Saturdays. It's all good fun.
Remember, kids can wear what they want as sports gear but will need boots, shin pads and water bottles.
We'll organise a mid-week session for Fun Footballers in Term 2.
Registrations for First Kicks/Fun Football keep coming in throughout the season so I'll be updating everyone again in due course.
Hi everyone,
This year our fun football and kids football programmes will be implemented and overseen by two year 13 students, Savanah Morton-Smith and Omar Cameron. Initially all queries and day to day email/phone contacts will be handled by Club Captain Ren Cameron.
These programmes are run alongside each other at Ferrymead Park from 9am - 10am on Saturday mornings. Children participate in a range of age-appropriate football-based activities designed to let them improve their basic skills while focusing on enjoying their football.
Don't forget to bring shin pads and boots if your children have them.
Hope to see you all there!
Would like to extend our greatest thanks to all of the parents who braved the cold winter mornings and came out to support this season. Without your help it really wouldn't have gone as smooth as it has.
Congratulations and thanks to all the children who too braved the cold and often wet mornings. All of you did incredibly well this year and we hope you continue your growth in skill!
On another note, it is a sad moment that I must inform everyone that Will Parker, who has spent countless hours supporting First Kicks and Fun Football, has stepped down from his role from now on. He has been a vital role in the continuation of the programs.
This means that we are currently in search of someone to take on the job, if you believe your up for it send Will an email at [email protected]
Once again thanks for your continued support and we look forward to seeing some of you again next year!
- Kallum
Due to the weather today, FK and FF is cancelled. Our final week tournament will be next week. See you there - all the best, Will
Hi Everyone,
FF & FK Football is CANCELLED - Saturday 6th August. There will be no First Kicks or Fun Football happening tomorrow.
With the grounds situation and some pretty unpleasant weather conditions expected, we decided to give you and the kids as much notice as possible to organise something else enjoyable instead.
Look forward to seeing you all next week, weather permitting.
Hope you have all had a good school holidays. Looking forward to seeing you when we start back on next Saturday 30th July (i.e. the end of the first week of term) ☺
Due to field conditions we will not be able to run Fun Football and First Kicks tomorrow. The next session will be next Saturday on June 4th.
ATTENTION:
Hi all, due to the weather and pitch conditions we are not going to be running First Kicks or Fun Football today. Apologises for any inconvenience.

Hi All,
Sorry there was a confusion on the start times in the post below. The Flyer is correct:
WHEN IS IT? Saturday 14 May
Fun Football: 9 am to 10.30 am
First Kicks: 10.30am to 12 noon
Please get back to Will's email ASAP: We still need 8 parents to be a Game Leader for 3 of the 6 rotations on Saturday. Mainland Football are offering those who help 30 mins of Game Leader Training so its a good deal :)

Hi Everyone,
We just got the details for this week's visit to to ASB Park on Saturday - please see below. It is on the AstroTurf and the kids get a lot of fun from playing on this. Xavier from Mainland Football runs these sessions and has a lot to offer.
Please note the times are a little different for First Kicks 9am-10:30am and Fun Football 10:30am-12noon.
If you would like to be a Game Leader on the day, please contact us by replying to Will's email. Xavier would really appreciate a few parents to be Game Leaders :)
