Wowee โ what a Battle of the Ages! ๐๐
What a weekend! So many smiles, so many PBs, plenty of ribbons, some seriously fast relay racing, amazing team spirit, and lots of loud cheering from the sidelines and the end of the lanes. The pool was buzzing all weekend long!
A massive thank you to everyone in our club who helped make Battle of the Ages 2026 such a success.
To Ange, Glenys, and Deb, the amount of work that happens behind the scenes before a meet even starts is huge, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you did to make the weekend happen. Thank you also to our committee for all the planning, preparation, and behind-the-scenes work leading up to the meet.
To all of our lane race and catering sponsors, raffle donors, families, supporters, volunteers, marshals, warm-down lane marshals, ribbon table helpers, raffle sellers, food preparation teams, food servers, and everyone who jumped in wherever needed โ thank you. It truly takes a village to run a swim meet, and once again our Vikings community showed what it's all about.
A special shout-out to our Mini Vikings helpers Maggie, Emma, and Leila, who looked fantastic in their Vikings hats while helping on the raffle desk and handing out food. You girls were absolute superstars!
To our coaches, George and Hannah โ thank you. Weโre so lucky to have you both. From the structured dryland warm-ups, to race prep, pacing for new races, , you were everywhere all weekend & doing what you do best. The way you were guiding, encouraging, and talking the swimmers through their races, and getting the very best out of them was awesome to see. Thank you for everything you bring to the club, every single day.
And to Todd, thank you for joining us and seeing all the Vikings in action. It was neat to have you back on pool deck!
A huge thank you also to our officials and timekeepers. Swim meets simply don't happen without you. We know it can be a long day poolside, and we are so grateful for the time you give to our sport. The success of a meet really does rest on the shoulders of all officials and volunteers.
We were lucky enough to have Cameron Long join us for a few sessions to capture all the action. There are some great photos coming - watch this space! ๐ธ
A big thank you to all the other clubs who joined us โ we hope you all had a great time racing back at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre. It was so good to be back there and everyone close to the action.
Most importantly, thank you to our swimmers. You raced hard, supported your teammates, celebrated each otherโs successes, and represented Vikings with pride. Whether you came away with a PB, a ribbon, a towel, or simply gained valuable race experience, you should all be proud!
That's a wrap on Battle of the Ages 2026 - see you all again next year. ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐๐
