We had an awesome seminar over the weekend and the wealth of knowledge shared was exceptional and it was an honor to be apart of.

Here's to the end of a great year everyone!
Hope everyone enjoyed Christmas and stayed safe.😊

We had a great run and all our team at Akau Bjj trained hard, learnt heaps and grew in leaps and bounds.

We also ran our first community program Taiohitipu for whanau who wished to have a space to come with their individual whanau for their hauora and well-being. It was awesome!
Something that ticks all the boxes, building confidence and determination, strength and independence, exercise and most of all like minded whanau and friends to journey alongside with, coupled with the intricate and amazing teachings of Brazillian Jiu-jitsu/Whatōtō, Te Reo Maori me o nga tikanga,

Also a special mention to our fighters who competed this year, way to rep the whare team! Especially our two champions who repped hard and had some exciting fights and achieved 1st place, at the South Island Champs and the NZ Nationals.

If anyone in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) is keen to give Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a go, we have funding available for 3 free classes a week:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
5.15pm to 6pm for younger ones, 6pm onwards for the older ones.

Criteria:
• Funding is for those 17 years and over,
• Under 17s are still welcome, they just need to be co-registered with a parent or guardian.

Such an awesome chance for them to build confidence, and be part of a kaupapa Māori BJJ roopu.

Kia Ora e te iwi, we will be going live soon to draw the winner of the tītī raffle. Thank you to all who bought a ticket in our first fundraiser to help with our fundraising efforts.

As a small club, fundraising enables us to help subsidise Loyalty-Akau members to compete locally, domestically, and internationally.

Funds also help us to pay costs associated to bring world-class international coaches over for seminars

If our members are in financial hardship, fundraising allows us to have funds readily available to help subsidise club members fees or to help with uniform if they are ever in financial hardship.
