What does a fitness test look and feel like?

Here I am finishing an endurance threshold test on the bike.
Why?
* Can I physically and mentally push myself to the limit.
* A true test finding your max helps to give the best guidance for workout specifics.
* Quality repeated testing shows growth and appropriateness of training process.
* Testing helps find the exercise needs to reach our goals.

This time last week I was running the Whole Hog. It has been in my bucket list since they announced it and despite all the restrictions did a great job to keep the race in the table.

Weather wasn't great and meant multiple changes to the planned course by the time we got to the start line. It is an epic race with some gnarly steep sections made more difficult with the rain.
So glad to get over the finish line and feel that my preparation and race plan worked well to get me through.
I definitely recommend this as a challenging run!

What an adventure, this was one of my better races. A difficult course with some ridiculously steep climbs at the end that just turned into a mud slide!

Revival Fitness - Level 2, what can we do? Hello , As we heard on yesterdays announcement, as of midnight tonight, everyone outside of Auckland moves to Level 2 restrictions. This is great news as we are officially allowed to open the gym and train together outdoors, yay!

I'm opening up the next fitness class at Hagley Park this month. This is an 8 week Bootcamp training program incorporating:
* Strength endurance
* High intensity fitness
* Aerobic conditioning

This is a progressive program with exercises suitable for all fitness levels.

Training sessions are mid-week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 4pm. Numbers are limited so if you're interested then comment below or send me a message.

GOOD TO BE BACK

It's been a while since I last lifted some serious weight. A month before my last Half Marathon race (2 weeks ago) I strained my back enforcing a period of rest and recovery.
Despite this I managed to get myself to the start line with very little running over those weeks but I felt good on the day. Training had good really well up until the injury so I knew I had been in good shape. I ended up taking 3 minutes of my previous PR on that course 🥳🥇

We all have set backs but it's important to stay positive and trust in the training you've done up until that point. It's better to turn up on the day rested and pain free rather than forcing in uncomfortable miles risking re-injury.

Great morning out at the Autumn Forest Run Fest! Managed to take 3 mins off my record on this course for the half marathon, well chuffed 😁

Today I made sure I was drinking regularly and got my nutrition in at the right times to help keep the pace up.
The sandy trail sections are never fun but it's a beautiful place to run.

Happy Easter everyone, if Jesus can rise from the dead then I can rise from a hard race ✝️
