A great 2 days of basketball at STC as our First V and Junior A teams hosted the annual exchange against the Marlborough Boys' College Falcons Senior A and Junior A sides.

Both games were played in a fantastic spirit, with all teams competing hard, showing plenty of skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout. There were plenty of excellent moments on display from both schools, making for two highly competitive contests.

Congratulations to our STC teams on securing victories in both matches, and thank you to Marlborough Boys' College for making the trip and contributing to another successful annual exchange, see you in Blenheim next year!

The DOWSON CUP has returned to St Thomas of Canterbury College!! 🏀🏆

The First V have beaten Christ’s College, 102-80 this evening in a fantastic match.

The Dowson Cup is an interschool trophy competed for within the regular season. This is the 3rd time we have won the Cup, with the last time in 2023 with a victory over Rangiora High, and then previously in 2022 with a very similar scoreline over Christ’s College.

Well done to everyone involved.

The St Thomas U15 Red team had a fantastic day trip to Kaikoura High School this week, taking on their talented School Selection side — a great mix of boys and girls from across all year levels.

While STC came away with a comfortable win, the day was about far more than basketball or the scoreboard. It was about building team culture, strengthening friendships and creating new connections with the Kaikoura players and community.

A special thank you to Kaikoura coach Ben and STC coach Raymond for the time, effort, and care they put into their teams and creating such a positive experience for all involved. A big thank you also to Mel and Carys from Kaikoura High School for organising and setting up the exchange — we truly appreciate all your work behind the scenes.

Thank you to Kaikoura High School for the warm hospitality and competitive spirit. Days like these are what school sport is all about — truly educating hearts and minds. 🏀❤️
