Completion of the Chainless WR and Bikes for Kids Project:
We finished the project last Tuesday when Scotty and I handed the 10 new bikes (Trek Marlin) over to Aratai College. It was a lot of fun for everyone with obstacle courses, slow bike races, fast bike races. The staff and students and the Principal, Maria were all fantastic and I'm happy that the bikes have gone to a good home. The Givealittle campaign raised $5800 approx, less 5% fees. The retail value of the bikes, helmets etc was $12,000, which Scotty Browns subsidised down to $8500. I made up the difference myself. Later in the year I'm going to do another attempt at the WR, on a bigger and faster pump track, with a bit more pre-organisation with Guinness WR. Scotty Browns NZ, Blomfield

A nice article about the Chainless Record attempt has just come out in USA based MTB magazine Singletracks:
A 70-year-old may have just smashed a pump track world record Mountain biker Hans van der Voorn proves it's possible to keep shredding into your 70s.

Completion of Fundraising:
There's a detailed report on the Givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/chainless-cycling-world-record-sponsorship
The round raised $5,811, with 5% to be deducted by GaL. The project is costing $8,500, with the difference to be paid by me.
Scotty's Brown's facilitated a big discount, with gear normally costing $12,000, so thanks to Scotty for that, plus other advice.
It's school holidays at the moment so we're planning handover of the bikes in the week commencing 5 May. I'm really pleased that we found the right home for the bikes.
Thank you to all of you who donated and if you see one of these bikes around pat yourself on the back.

Bikes for Kids Project:
Great News:
I've agreed to donate 10 MTB bikes to Te Aratai College today. I took one of them to the school and met the Outdoor Coordinator Scott there. He and some kids had a wee play, see photos. Between us we came with quite a few ideas on how to use them. Everyone is very enthusiastic and I'm sure we can make it a lot of fun as well as a learning experience. Handover will happen after the school holidays, maybe with some fun activities attached. CAP are onboard to host the kids for half a day as well. Thanks to those who've donated to the Givealittle page. We are still a bit short of the target and the page is open until Friday. But going ahead regardless.
