I read this article the other day and realised how proud I am of our many older clients and the many remarkable things they do. Most of all, none of them look their age! There may be a bit of a clue there about resistance training, regular exercise and good nutrition.
Anyway for those of you who are looking to reduce your risk of falling and the impact of falls, please get in touch about an exciting fall prevention specific programme we have coming soon.
Improve:
Strength
Coordination
Balance
Reaction Time
And most of all, move well and age well. Its never too late but the best time to start is now.

Great to have the Exercise New Zealand Conference Lite in Christchurch this weekend!
The event featured an excellent range of sessions, including topics like behaviour change, client assessment, rehabilitation, breathing, concussion, migraines, and effective training techniques for an aging population — and so much more.
It was awesome to have several members of our team attend and grow their knowledge to better support our community.
We've even seen some new skills being used in sessions this week. Keep up the great work team!

So, rest days, why do we need them? Why can’t we just smash out an intense workout 7 days a week?
When we work out and lift weights, we create tiny tears in our muscles. To repair these tears, we must give our bodies time to rest and heal. When the muscle repairs itself, it grows a tiny bit stronger in the process.
So I know it seems counterproductive, but to get the best results, you need to let your body rest. We don’t want to be over-training and burn out as a result.
Thus, the importance of rest days! Taking a day off is also beneficial for your motivation and to keep consistent in your gym routine. But don't think that a rest day means you have to sit on the couch all day! Going on a walk or giving your body a good stretch are great ways to incorporate some healing movement into these days.🚶
