🍂 PIWAKAWAKA AUTUMN CHALLENGE 2026 🍂
A little over a month ago we wrapped up the Piwakawaka Autumn Challenge at Warren Park, and we’re still smiling about it. It was chilly - the wind played a factor but it was a great day!
From first-time tournament players, to FIRST TIME PLAYERS, to seasoned competitors, the day delivered exactly what we hoped for: great disc golf, great people, and a fantastic community atmosphere full of new highs and challenges.
A huge congratulations to all of our division winners, challenge winners, raffle winners and spot prize recipients.
Most importantly, thank you to every player who came along and helped make the event what it was. 2 away from hitting cap was impressive!
Events like these only happen because of an incredible community, dedicated volunteers, and businesses willing to back local disc golf.
Thank you to RPM DISCS - It's In Our Nature, Vortica Disc Golf, NZDSS, Hell Pizza | Dinner, Dessert & Booze Delivered BISHOPDALE, New World WIGRAM, Metalcraft Roofing, Empire Chicken and Scoundrel as well as everyone else who helped make the day possible.
The Piwakawaka may be finished, but SIDG Seasonals 2026 is far from over.

Surprise reopening ⏳
Bit of a surprise to us, but scorecards and logistics have been running smoothly enough that we’re reopening registration for 6 hours. We heard today from several people hoping to get in. So lets see!
That means regos are now open again until midnight tonight.
We’ve only got 3 spots left, and there are still player pack upgrades available for anyone wanting to lock one in before tomorrow’s price bump.
Big thanks as well to the team at Hell Pizza Bishopdale for getting in behind the day so strongly. This photo is just part of the stack of vouchers they’ve hooked us up with.
Short notice.
No more chances.
You’ve gotta be in to win.
Tell a mate.

We’re down to the final 12 hours until registration closes.
We still have 5 spots left after a few extra sign ups came in and a couple of injury cancellations opened things back up again.
So if you were on the fence, or know someone who was planning to leave it late, this is the last real window.
Once regos close, that’s it.
No Saturday rego.
No Sunday morning rego.
If you want to play, now is the time to sort it.
And if you missed the player pack, there are still 15 left to lock in before the cutoff.
See you all very soon.

Today we’re revealing the custom player pack gear.
Huge thanks to the team at RPM for helping bring these to life. We’ve got our custom Atomic Piwakawakas and our SIDG Autumn minis ready to go, and as you can see, we’ve got a few of them.
All gold stamped, with black minis and red and orange Piwaks to match the Autumn vibe. Properly beautiful.
If you skipped the player pack and want back in, now’s the time to sort it or get in touch before tomorrow night when rego closes.
If not, there should still be discs and minis available on the day, just at a slightly higher price.
We’re now at 67 registered, with just 5 spots left.
That means there’s only 1 day and a cup of coffee before regos lock at whatever we’ve got.
Don’t forget too, we’ll also have the raffle and ace kitty on the day, with all funds going back into SIDG to help cover costs and support future events.

We’re into the final few days now.
64 players are in. Just 8 spots left. Regos close in 2 days.
Today is just a straight FAQ post based on what we’re getting asked most.
1) Food and drink?
Yes. .nz will be there from very early and likely right through the day, with brekkie food plus hot and cold drinks. arrives in time for our long lunch break, and may be around a bit before or after depending on the day.
2) Can spectators, family, or friends come along?
Absolutely. They’re welcome to walk around with you, caddie for you, chat, and be part of the day. We just ask that everyone respects the usual event etiquette around tee shots, noise, and not distracting players.
3) Are dogs allowed?
Yes, as long as they are under control 100% of the time and, as required by council rules, on leash 100% of the time. If they’re too barky or excitable, they’ll need to come away from the disc golf because it can be very distracting. I’ve got a boomy barky dog too, so I get it.
4) What’s the weather backup plan?
At this stage Sunday looks like a cold start and a clear sunny day, but either way, we’ll be rocking rain or shine. Please come prepared. Layers are your friend.
If you’re planning to play, now is the time to lock it in.

A quick weather-focused update today.
At this stage, Sunday is looking like it’ll behave pretty well. The current forecast for Christchurch is showing a cold start around 3 to 4°C through the morning, then a mostly sunny day with light conditions and temperatures lifting into the low teens later on.
So yes, probably a day for a good hot chocolate or coffee early, and definitely a day for layers.
That said, this is still New Zealand, and kiwi weather is always capable of keeping us guessing a bit, so don’t treat it as locked just yet.
We’re now up to 60 registered, with just 12 spots left and 17 player packs left.
If you’ve been sitting on the dock of the bay, wasting time, let’s lock and load.
Each limited player pack includes a custom Atomic Piwakawaka plus goodies from our sponsors, with current pack value sitting around $40 to $50.
