š¢ NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS: Proposed Friday Night Bowls Schedule Change š¢
Dear Members,
Now that we are in the heart of winter, we have noticed a significant drop in our Friday night attendance numbers. Given the seasonal shift, it is time to consider whether it is practical to continue playing through these colder months.
While we all share a great passion for the game, the appeal of a warm, cozy evening at home during winter is completely understandable. To ensure we are making the best use of our Friday nights, I am proposing that we temporarily pause Friday night bowls and resume on the first Friday in November.
This restart date will allow me to return from the Blind National tournament over Labour Weekend and ensures we kick off again in much warmer weather, which will hopefully bring a higher turnout. From November onward, the plan is to run our Summer bowls format straight through until Daylight Saving ends next year.
Have your say:
Your feedback is incredibly important. If you would like to discuss this proposal or suggest any other changes to the schedule, please join us this Friday. We will hold a brief discussion to finalize our plans moving forward.
Kind regards,
Lance Patterson

Taieri Open Triples
Played on Sunday 2nd August at Wingatui Hall.
We enjoyed a well-supported event with 18 teams from all over - South Otago, Central Otago, North Otago, Town and Taieri! A fantastic mix that made for a great afternoon of competition.
There was plenty of laughter and good humour throughout the afternoon, alongside some great bowls.
The event was won by the slimmest of margins by Lyn Rance, June Pickles, and Max Grey with 103.5 points. Finishing a very close second on 103 points were Robert Wilson, Marilyn Wilson, and Kate Cochrane. Third place went to Judy Sell, Bernie Thijssen, and Clarrie Thompson with 101 points.
The afternoon tea was wonderful ā a big thank you to the ladies in the kitchen and everyone who contributed.

Great day out playing Triples at Wingatui today.
It was great to see teams from Oamaru, Central, South Otago, Dunedin and the Taieri competing with skill and fun on the mind.
Thank you for the day and especially the wonderful afternoon tea!!!!
Congratulations to Lyn Rance and her team on a win today.
Taieriās page will have more in depth results no doubt.

Congratulations to the North Island team who have stormed back from last years disappointment to comprehensively win this years Island Test in Whakatane!
Our Otago players fought hard and played outstanding bowls from the bits I could see.
Jacquie Williams on debut was all over the jack or just behind, Tracey Van Tuel was precise and consistent and Brandon Williams just did normal Brandon things!
Well done guys!
Special mention to Honorary Otago bowler Nic Sinclair who grabbed a medal in the pairs for the South after playing superbly.
And also to recent, former Otago player Matthew Foster who took the menās singles medal for the North⦠we still care about you Matty.

Taieri Champion Pairs
Played on Sunday 26th July at Wingatui Hall
Congratulations to Peter Earl and Bronwyn Carse on winning the Taieri Champion Pairs, a matched up team that played very well all day! In second place was Judy Sell and Bernie Thijssen, who were also playing well.
There were many great games played, with several ending in draws. The fourth round proved to be a āknockoutā round, with 11 teams vying to qualify. However, they effectively eliminated each other, leaving just six qualifiers.
Interestingly, no team finished with four wins. Hugh Bosmanās team had three wins, while the remaining five qualifiers all finished on five points.
Thank you to the all the teams that competed, with special thanks to the players from outside of the Taieri, your participation made for an enjoyable and challenging day.
