Over the past 4 months Let's Go Fitness in Dunedin has been producing some strong young athletes.
The Better Men program has been a blast to coach and a great way to improve physical skills, but this program also inspired emotional and life changing skills.

200kg Bench Press finally. Literally 4 whole years in the making. What a grind, especially for us shorter guys with the short leavers. Hand position, core stability, all of it has to be on par when having a go with the heavy stuff. Looking forward to 6 plates!!

I highly recommend the SBD set up. The belt is insane, and I’ve recently jumped into the bigger belts after 10+ years gym participation. Thank you for the L elbow sleeves. Ordered XL and admit I over shot the size game 😂

Bring on better form for future but I can’t complain!

What a crazy year 😫

Testing out a few variations of training methods hunting down those big numbers.
A couple of conversations later with a fellow Dunedin coach Bennett Jones lead to the realisation, there’s really no right or wrong answer, stick to your short term goals, and what works for you, works for you.

What a grind this was

Thank you to Lauren Kelly for the long video 💪🏼

Barrett breaks Blues record on first day of training 18/05/2020

As and up and coming coach it is interesting to see how sporting as a whole have reacted to Covid19. From finances, to injury prevention and training!

I am looking forward to seeing the Rugby season pan out!

Let’s go! 🐻💚💛

Green Island Rugby Football Club

Barrett breaks Blues record on first day of training After more than two months of no rugby activity due to the Covid-19 lockdown, a familiar name made his mark for a new club as New Zealand’s five Investec Super Rugby Aotearoa teams hit the training pitch on Monday.

Be aware of Athlete related mental health issues

The loss of sport may result in the loss of the mind - Authors personal opinion

Sport is put on hold for most athletes world wide.
Start a diary of how you’re feeling and acknowledgments of personal motivation. You may notice results will drop for a number of reasons.

Exercise is a consistent, emotional and mental stimulation resulting in the need to explore various physical boundaries.

You athletes now have no sport to play. Where do you go from here?

If you have a back yard, or a productive size area to work in, why not work on things you never had time for.

- balance
• the pains in my shoulder may be caused from my feet or hips. Do I need mobility work?

- stretching
• I’m that tight that I stay away from any real contact on one side of my body. What if I can get rid of that?

- self educate about fitness and health
• why the f**k is there rest periods anyway? Maybe I might find out what goes on inside of me during exercise

- improve the quality of nutrition
• the importance of fats on our levels of hormones, both male and female. Why do we need Iron or vitamin?

I could sit here and give you full body work outs, but it wouldn’t be enough and you know it

I was not involved in the background training, but I was involved in the warm up process and support process behind today’s session. With a 172.5kg Benchpress one week before hand, I think big Matt has a lot of promise, especially juggling day to day around a new born. Almost 45 years young with a background of Jujitsu, not bad!
