Squad Training:

Great to have Coach Brown from Christchurch & Coach Arnold from Southland in Dunedin this weekend working through some on court & off court off season specific work this weekend.

In my humble opinion Coach Brown is arguably one of the best squash coaches we’ve seen over a very long period a time in NZ, extremely strategic, builds a brain in a player, everything asked of a player is specific to that player, everything is planned to the last detail.

His record with players is unprecedented. Multiple Cousin Shield & NZSS wins with NZ / schools, NZ junior - senior teams event winning teams NZ / District / coached majority of the South Islands top male A1 players / Multiple District Open winners / NZ junior - senior title winners / SI - NI junior - senior winners plus more, over a 30 year period …. and still going!

No active squash coach in the country has a comparable record.

💥Junior Nationals Teams' Event 2025 final wrap up 💥

The Southland Boys team gave it everything this week and as we knew they would, they represented themselves; their clubs & their District with pride. They were seeded 9th and went up against some very strong teams both days. One of the goals of the Teams' Event was to try to beat their seeding - and they came so very close to doing that today in their final tie.

This was Tommy & Ethan's last shot at Junior Nationals, so it was great to give them a proper send off as they move towards the Seniors ranks.

Regan McNaught appointed as Coach/Mentor/Chauffeur/Camp Dad for this campaign. This is usually a tireless & thankless job, so A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Regan on behalf of the players, parents and Squash Southland for everything you've done in the lead up to and during this week👏👏👏👏👏

Travel home safe team!!!

Mainland Squash - NZ:

As a wee side note …. we’ll officially be changing our name from South Island Squash - NZ to:

‘Mainland Squash - NZ’ in the near future.

This page is about supporting everything to do with the sport of Squash in the South Island of NZ.

Our goal is to make the South Island (Mainland) the powerbase for squash in NZ including profiling and developing/supporting our own Events, camps tours, players, coaches, clubs.

It’s about a unified approach to the sport in the South Island with no specific emphasis on any one individual or specific club, group.

It’s about raising the profile of the game of squash in the Mainland.

If anyone wants to profile anything they’re positively doing to help, grow, promote or makes a difference for our sport in the Mainland please send us a message and we’ll happily put a post up!
