Yesterday, we celebrated a massive milestone for a true legend of City Highlanders. Ben Varkalis has officially coached 300 games for our Prem Women team! 🧡

Ben’s impact on this club goes far beyond the numbers, but the record books tell an incredible story. Under his thoughtful guidance, the Prems have made the Grand Final every single year since 2014, resulting in 8 Premier Title wins out of those 12 appearances.

Known for his calm, enthusiastic, and genuinely supportive coaching style, Ben has spent years fostering local talent. From Otago representative players to Black Sticks, his influence is felt far and wide throughout the hockey community.

But what truly defines Ben is the time, energy, and unwavering kindness he gives to every single player who wears the orange shirt. Above all else, he creates an incredible team culture built on respect, resilience, and a fierce belief in what they can achieve together.

Thank you Ben, for your endless dedication, passion, and for creating history with City Highlanders. Your 300 games have shown incredible leadership, determination, and an unparalleled legacy of coaching success.

Round 4 ended with a mixed bag of results for our teams with some closely contested matches over the weekend!

Round 3 saw a week of mixed results for our teams. This weekend they all get the opportunity for a break with ANZAC weekend, but not before one more game with the Prem Women taking on the Taieri Tigers tomorrow night at 6pm! Come down and see them in action on the Pav turf.

Round 2 is done and dusted, and there were some great games played across the weekend. It's great to see our teams starting to gel together and we can't wait to see them all in action again this weekend for round 3!
