Been awesome seeing this guy turn his life around from doing nearly no activity, work all day in the office straight into hours of gaming at night, eating whatever to now living a much healthier and active lifestyle.
Hits his steps, gets his workouts in, much more mindful about what he eats while still allowing himself some of the foods he loves in moderation. Now he’s 22kg down, about to run a 10km this week and getting strong!!

As we get into the month of February, this is when a lot of new gym goers that started in the new year begin to fall off.

The ⚡️New Year New Me⚡️ energy starts to fade. The most common reasons for this include:

💪 5 benefits of the deadlift 💪

“The deadlift is more functional in that it’s very hard to imagine a more useful application of strength than picking heavy **** up off the ground.” – Mark Rippetoe

The deadlift is one of my all time favourite exercises I get my clients to do. Having a coach teach you good technique on the deadlift can provide amazing results. It’s one of the best bang for your buck exercises you can do!

Here are 5 benefits of the Deadlift:

1️⃣ Deadlifts build a strong injury resistant back.

In life you need a strong back.
A lot of people sit for long periods during the day (office jobs, sitting watching tv) this can over time lead to a weak back and possibly cause pain and injury due to tightness and poor posture.

The deadlift can counteract the negative effects that a sedentary lifestyle can cause and will help you build a solid, strong, injury resistant back.

2️⃣ Teaches proper mechanics for picking up heavy objects in daily life.

Learning proper technique for the deadlift translates over to safe mechanics for lifting objects off the ground.

This will make things like lifting heavy boxes and moving furniture much easier and less likely to cause injury.

3️⃣ Deadlifts make your bones stronger.

Humans inevitably lose bone density over time.

It is a natural part of aging.

This loss of bone mineral density can lead to osteoporosis, which in turn makes the likelihood of broken and fractured bones more common.

Deadlifts can help to counteract or even reverse these effects.

4️⃣ Deadlifts build a strong AF core.

You have to work your core pretty damn hard to stabilise the spine when you’re picking up a heavy weight from off the ground.

Building this strong core will help boost your performance in other lifts as well as boost your performance in things in the real world. Want a better golf swing? Build a stronger core.

5️⃣ Burn more fat.

Deadlifts work a huge number of muscles. In turn, this burns a higher number of calories during the workout. Deadlifts also build muscles mass. This will, over time, raise the BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate) of any lifter. BMR is the total number of calories that you burn whilst at rest.

March brings another awesome month for the team:

- The latest six week challenge has ended with some more amazing results! 🏆

- Members in the Lift program have completed their long 12 week cycle hitting some super impressive PB’s in their Squat, Bench and Deadlift! 👏

- The group have participated in some amazing walks on their active recovery days. Big ups to for being the head of the walking committee and organising them all 🙌

- Plenty of new faces added to the Whānau 🙋‍♂️
