OUDS’s second BYO is here, and this time we at ‘The Maharajas!’ ✨🍾

This BYO night is being hosted at the local restaurant ‘The Maharajas’ (735 King Street) starting at 7pm. BYO nights are a really awesome way to build new and existing connections over some delicious food and drinks. These nights are always bustling so come get amongst it! 🔥

As this is a BYO night, if you’re wanting to drink please bring your own bottle of wine. However there is no expectation to drink. 🥂

Food and corkage costs are not covered.

Last weekend, Otago Uni DebSoc attended the annual Joynt Scroll national debating competition! 🫶

Taking place at Waikato University, we sent a contingent of 3 teams, 2 trainees and 2 judges! 📣 The competition took place over three days, with two days of open rounds, followed by semis and finals on the last day! ⏰

Otago 1 finished within break contention, and just narrowly missed out on breaking away into semis! We also secured a top ten spot for Ethan Jackson and a 2nd= most promising speaker for Kieran Sturland! ✨

A huge thanks to everyone involved, and congratulations to all the teams and judges who broke! And to all of the new incredible NZUDC accredited judges!!!

Look forward to doing it all again in Wellington next year! As well as the upcoming officers cup in Wellington in semester 2! Make sure to be looking out for signups!

It’s been a really great start to the year and we’re looking forward to another good half of the semester after the break! 🫶

Otago Debating Regional Judging Recap! 📣

Over a recent weekend OUDS had the pleasure of once again hosting the Otago Debating Regionals at Otago University! Here’s some snaps of our volunteer adjudication team over the weekend! 📸

Thank you to everyone who makes these events happen! And thanks to Vice Chancellor Grant Robertson for coming to speak some words of encouragement at the opening of the tournament. Hopefully we see you as part of the adj volunteer team next year if we didn’t this year! ✨
