The CAD Level 1 – Children's Events Course is coming to Dunedin this weekend and is designed for coaches, parents, teachers, volunteers, and older athletes who want to develop their coaching knowledge and better support young people in athletics.

📅 25-26 September 📍 Dunedin

CAD Level 1 bridges the gap between ASB Run Jump Throw and competitive athletics, covering:

Sprints & Hurdles
High Jump & Long Jump
Shot Put & Discus
Athlete Development
The Role of the Coach

This practical course aligns with the Balance is Better philosophy and focuses on helping coaches create fun, inclusive and development-focused experiences for young athletes.

Many of our clubs are looking for more confident coaches and helpers. Whether you're already coaching or thinking about getting involved, this is a great opportunity to upskill.

Entries are now open for the 2027 Colgate Games!

The South Island Games are close to home in 2027 - at Surrey Park, Invercargill, 15-17 January.

The 2027 North Island Games will be at Trigg Arena, Whangarei, 8-10 January.

Entry is open to any child 7-14 years who is a member of an affiliated athletics club.

You don’t need to be selected or be a top athlete.
These games are an opportunity for children to compete in a fun and encouraging environment.

Registrations are now open for 4-14 year olds for Hill City University Children's 2026-27 summer athletics season!

We're accepting registrations for both new and returning athletes - competitive* and non-competitive.

Coaching starts 13 October.

Parents we need you!
The athletics season will be upon us soon and we are in dire need of some new committee members now that some of our long-standing members have left as their children moved into seniors.

All you need is the willingness to attend monthly meetings and lend a hand on a Saturday morning at shot put - no expertise required and you won't need to be out there all morning 😉
It's a great way to get more involved in your child's sport and have a say in the running of HCU Childrens.

Even if you are unsure, please come along this Saturday to a pre-season meeting and have a listen in - no pressure to commit!

With the mile growing in popularity here in NZ it is pretty exciting that Dunedin is set to host the 2026 NZ Road Mile Championships! The action will happen over a super fast course up and down George St on September 12 🏃‍♀️🏃🏼
The event is not just for the elite, there is a kids race to kick off the afternoon, followed by a social race for everyone and anyone! Then stick around to witness some of the fastest athletes in NZ do their thing!
Let's see some HCU colours out there 🙌🙌

The Otago Road Champs are this Saturday!
2km for U10/U12, 3km for U14, 4km for U16.
There is also a 1km fun run for U8 athletes (enter on the day).
