Round 6 β
Had a good time at Manfield last weekend, was fast in practice but struggled a little in the races and quali.
Practice.
Was flying during the wet and slippery practices, had an issue with the gearbox in practice 1 and 2 so during lunch we decided to chuck the spare in.
Quali. P10
Not too bad but could have been better, was on an absolute flyer lap but then there was a yellow flag in the last corner so had to abandon the lap.
Race 1. P10
Went into the race thinking it would be dry but on lap 1 it absolutely bucketed down, had a bit of a battle and finished where I started.
Race 2. P8
Much better race, made a major setup change not expecting much but it paid off.
Race 3. DNF
Car was perfect, had heaps of pace. Unfortunately going around turn 1 on the 3rd lap the right hand stub axle snapped and the wheel came off causing me to go hard into the barrier.
Thank you to Murray and Dad for all the help over the weekend.
Bring on the final round in Taupo!
Big thanks to all my sponsors

Round 5β
ββββ
βββ
Wow what a weekend, first off HUGE thank you to everyone who helped us this round.ββββ
ββ
Practice 1, something was off with the engine so I pulled in to try figure out what was wrong went back out then started losing power so I killed the engine and rolled into the pits. pulled the engine apart to find we had done a big end bearing. Done a quick crank grind with emery tape replaced the bearing and sent it again.
βββ
Had to skip a few practices but got out again for practice 5 a plug lead came off fixed it and went back out for a couple laps β
βββ
Practice 6 was raining so only got a few laps then it was red flagged.
βββ
Quali, got out on track and realised how little power the car had did 2 laps came in, qualified p17ββββ
βββ
Race 1, gained a spot on the start did a couple laps realised the engine wasnβt going to last long, so i went ray on it then on lap 5 oil pressure dropped, killed the engine and got my first DNF.βββ
ββββ
After the race we thought we were going home, as we were packing up, Ian Foster called someone in Rotorua with a car we could borrow thanks heaps Samuel π so Dad & I made the 9 hour round trip to pick up the car, only got 1 ticket that we know ofπ
ββββ
βββ
Race 2 just made it to the grid in time, couldnβt find first so i started in 2nd. The brakes very different to what im used to and i had trouble finding gears as well so i decided to leave it in 4th all race I gained 1 spot and finished p16!βββ
ββββ
Race 3, we adjusted some things so i could find gears got 2 spots on the start had a fun battle with , finished p15!βββββββ
ββββ
The DNF and 2 bad placings means my 42 point lead is gone so now 30 behind in 2nd in the rookie standings i have go into fight mode to win nowβ.!
β
Congrats to .prout for top rookie of the round πββββ

Round 4 β
β
β
Had another good round of the championship last weekendπ β
β
Practice was good, we were running in a new engine for half the day so didnβt get much of a chance to get a setup but in the last run of the day I could finally do some push laps to see what the engine could do. β
β
Quali. Was trying a different technique for the first time, it was improving my times but we discovered an issue. We found that the car would pop out of gear while doing the new trick so I had to hold the shifter to stop it from happening. Qualified p7 so still pretty happy with thatπβ
β
Race 1 not much happened for me in this race, kept p7.β
β
Race 2 was very fun, had some great battles with and , came p5π β
β
Race 3 was very wet, we went out on the βdryβ tyres but didnβt put enough pressure in so had stuff all grip, dropped to p8.β
β
Race 4, had an amazing start and got up to p3 then dropped to p4 where I stayed until the safety car was brought out and I dropped back to p7. β
β
Overall was a fun weekend, didnβt get top rookie trophy this time so congrats to Yoshi. ππ β
β
Also massive congratulations to Keiano on getting his first and second winππ β
β
Thanks Dad/Mum, and Murray for the help.πβ

Round 3β
Had a great round 3 of the NZ Formula First championship at manfield last weekend.
Practice day was stressful to say the least, first 2 runs were good but then in the 3rd run the engine blew up, luckily we managed to find new engine to use and got it back in and running later that night.
Quali was also not the best, after getting out on track I noticed the clutch slipping so i got 1 slow lap in and then on the in lap the hockey stick broke so i couldn't select any gears.
After quali me and the team managed to replace the hockey stick and the clutch in about 1 and a half hours!
Race 1 was the best result we could have hoped for after all the drama with the car. After qualifying p13 I worked my way through the field all the way up to p8 by lap 3! I also beat my qualifying time so I moved up the starting grid.
Race 2 was another good race, i got up to p8 and stayed there until there was a crash ahead that bumped me up to p6!
Race 3 was also very good, i had a good battle with WEIR Motorsport all race long but I passed him in the last corner so I finished p6 again!
Race 4 wasn't very interesting, I finished p7.
I got top rookie of the round again, bagged heaps more points aswell.
MASSIVE thanks to murray, donald, and dad for helping fix the car all weekend!
Big thanks to all my sponsors

Round 2 β
β
β
Had a great round at last weekend with me getting some more good results! β
β
I also was top rookie every race so very happy with thatπβ
β
Quali - p6 β
Wasnβt close enough to draft off anyone until the last couple laps but I still got a decent time in before the endπβ
β
Race 1 - p7 β
Got a bit of wheelspin off the line dropping me back a spot.β
β
Race 2 - p8 β
Had some more wheelspin so i lost a few spots. β
β
Race 3 - p7 β
Had a very late reaction time and lost a spot but gained it back straight away.β
β
Race 4 - p8 β
Had a great start but going into turn 1 was sandwiched so had to back out to avoid causing a crash so I lost a few spots. β
β
Overall i was happy with the weekend, learned some things and bagged some more pointsπ β
β
Thanks dad and murray for the help over the weekend.β

Round 1 completed β
Had an amazing first round of the Hi-Q components NZ Formula First championship last weekend. Managed to win Rookie of the weekend and am now highest placed out of all the Rookies!
Quali - p5.
Quali was good, got a few fast laps in and got my fastest on the final lap. I was originally placed p6 but was bumped up to p5 right before race 1.
Race 1 - p6.
Had a decent first race, got a bit of wheel spin off the line dropping me to p6 where I stayed for the rest of the race.
Race 2 - p10.
Wasnβt my best race, managed to put the car into 3rd gear instead of 1st so I stalled on the start (shot cooper for the idea) i then made my way back into 10th and was right behind the middle pack over the line.
Race 3 - p6
First wet race in the car, had a decent start and kept myself in 6th place then was passed and dropped a spot, then on the last lap there was a crash so I gained a spot and finished p6.
Congrats Keiano Weir on the podiumππ
Thanks dad and murray for the help over the weekend.
