For those asking what is happening with Matariki;
We are running it back!

Staying with the same “Whakanuia” format that won us NZ Golf Event of the Year; we are running it on the Matariki Public Holiday Friday 10th July with a cut down field to manage the daylight hours on one of the shortest days of the year.

As the field is smaller, priority is being given to Sponsors and those who played last year in supporting the event in its first running; Kennedy is contacting reps from last years teams directly and after they have all been contacted and have had a chance to enter we will open it up.
Due to the number of late withdrawals and restricted numbers, it will be the first PAID teams at $120 per team.

Get a hold of Kennedy directly with any questions, queries, sponsorship interest or other issues

What a season!

Congratulations to our Patutahi ladies finishing the round robin 1st equal on the table with Wairoa Golf Club. What an effort !
Sadly there will be no shield coming home, losing the countback based on individual match results and damn it was close!
Congratulations to Wairoa on an incredible season and how fitting to have had the final at home on a beautiful day showcasing the best of a community run course and the generosity of its members.

Thank you to all our ladies for showing up in the long season that started back in February, your commitment to representing the club with pleasure and pride has been nothing but inspiring to see; as well as those women, and our men who have showed up to support; at home, throughout the rounds as well as showing investment in the women’s game. I assure you it has not gone unnoticed.
To those that played throughout the season; Kim, Charlie, Kennedy, Frances, Sheree, Denise and Shelley. Well done ladies. 1st Equal is amazing and we are so proud of you.

We will be back next year, and no doubt will be gunning for the shield.

She was foggy this morning! Lucky the pink is Bright.

Well done to our ladies pennants today in the second to last round played at Poverty Bay alongside their Beaufoy/Pharmacy 53 Ladies 18h Open.

Denise in her debut this season had a hard match today in seasoned player Louise Tana, going down to the last to lose 2down (damned stroke holes). She did come home with a prize for longest putt of the day on hole 5. It was monster and well done on beating the other 77 women in the field !

Kennedy again played a well travelled golfer and stalwart of ladies golf in Tairawhiti, Tina Duncan. It was a slow start but once the driver started working everything went pretty fast, winning 6/5. Kennedy also won the overall Nett in the open with a Nett 72 (2under)

Kim played another golfer who is about as steady as you can get in June Underhill, putting unfortunately her downfall and despite hitting some amazing drives, lost 3/2. Not everyone’s greens can be as great as home I suppose.

Charlie had another hard match against one of the golfing Brown’s (but not the ones from Home) and good friend of Patutahi in Wairoa Ladies Club Captain Dardie. Charlie’s great chipping got her a 5/4 win and 5th place in the overall Stableford in the open.

2 wins and 2 losses means 5 points for us after this round. The cream rises to the top and there are 3 teams left in contention to win the 2026 edition of ladies pennants with not enough points remaining for the other clubs to beat Wairoa after their incoming bye round. Mana points of course still up for grabs for them and the other end of the race, who gets the wooden spoon.
40 - Mahia
37 - Patutahi
35 - Wairoa
We have one round remaining (10 points available); to be played with the Wairoa ladies open this Saturday.

It was also great to see a number of our ladies out being supportive of ladies golf and playing in the open, Shelley, Sheree, Frances and Calypso (with a very supportive caddy in tow) all out there representing the club well. Our showing also winning us a prize for the most (proportional) members from a visiting club.

Well done ladies, we are proud of you all. Our thoughts are of course still with Helen P and the rest of the whanau. Best luck to our ladies in the final round of pennants on Saturday and of course to our men in the hunt for Oligoi and Endeavour glory on Sunday.
