Te Ora Heke - Greymouth

Kia ora koutou, what a great turn out at yesterday’s Pop-Up Learn To Surf, with 18 learners in the water, catching waves! It was awesome to have learners join from Greymouth and Hokitika, thank you to the mums, dads, and caregivers for making it happen, we would not be able to pull these events together without a community of supportive families getting us there. Also Miko, Mohammad, Victoria, and Frey for leading the session and encouraging our tamariki! For those keen on getting out there again or parents wanting to bring your kids down for a supervised paddle, you can join Kahuna Boardriders Club to access wetsuits and learner surfboards by registering as a junior or family. We can arrange participant pick-up/drop-off within Greymouth, please let us know and contact Rasela if you would like to join. See you this Saturday 3rd January 2026!

Epic little shingle at Cobden Breakwater 📸. At Te Ora Heke we put basic theory into fundamental practice, including safe water entry with a surfboard and identification of hazards within the beach area and when out surfing. Can you identify three risks/hazards based on these current conditions?

Super stoked to have had this awesome bunch of wahine attend our two-day surfing therapy programme (+ Indy & Maia!!). Thank you to our parents for providing these girls with the opportunity, and our beautiful wahine for showing up, being honest, confident, and brave! It was awesome to see our senior surfers taking leadership in the water, as well as new learners showing commitment to practising their paddling and catching waves. That’s a wrap on our long weekend surf camp! in collaboration with sponsored by
