🏑This Greymouth hockey team was based out of the Rec Centre today as the NZ Secondary School Hockey Tournament came to town.

There are 15 teams playing across the week, including this combined Greymouth and John Paul II team.

It's a significant event for the town's economy, with around 1,300 bed nights generated by the teams alone, plus supporters and family members here for the week.

West Coast Hockey is hiring the clubrooms and changing rooms at the Rec Centre.

Mayor Tania Gibson will be presenting the medals at the closing ceremony.

Primary Schools Netball Tournament is on until 3pm today.
